I have seen all the teams since there WAS a Superbowl, the meanest toughest team in the history of the NFL was unquestionably the '85 Bears. They were awesome. If they had known that that one meaningless loss against Miami was going to count against them so heavily or if they could go back in time and do it again, it would come out like a Saturday Night Live routine...Bears 65 Miami 3. (I am sure of it!)
The best quarterback of all time was Joe Montana. Screw the statistics and just WATCH the games! He was like a character from a fairy tale. He just stepped onto the field and literally "willed" things to happen. He did things that the best quarterbacks do once or twice a season, he did them every single game!
No quarterback in history has ever created the "magic" that Joe Montana did! The only one to even come close was Elway, his last two years. Joe did it every year of his career

We are the Bears.. the shufflin crew... gettin on down.. doin it for you...
The 1985 Bears were the most dominant defense ever- they made the Patriots and everyone else (except Dan Marino on that one Monday night) look like deer stuck in freeway traffic of the pass rush.
Richard Dent, Mike Singletary, Dan Hampton, Gary Fencik, the part-time running back known as the Fridge :) Not to even bother mentioning the NFL's fastest man of those years in Willie Gault, Jim McMahon in his prime (who is soooo overlooked- he's probably the 3rd best QB of the 80's behind Montana and Fouts, and in 1985 I'd rank him #1) and some guy named Walter Payton...
That team was just the most impressive I can think of- they didn't just beat people, they destroyed them. So I'll take those Bears over the undefeated yet less spectacular 72 Dolphins, or Superbowl Steelers, Cowboys or 49ers teams.
The best QB? Still has to be Joe Montana- the guy didn't have the strongest arm, the quickest release, the fastest feet or anything. But he made the throws when they counted to WIN THE GAME. They were more prolific passers, but nobody was more of a lock to make plays when it counted.

I can only think of one undefeated team in the NFL's history.
I'd say the '72-73 Dolphins. They won back-to-back Super Bowls and only lost one game.
As for best QB...Joe Montana was pretty clutch I'd say.

Best team ever - Dolphins, 1972.
Best quarterback - Fran Tarkenton of the Minnesota Vikings.
Have you noticed the Vikings have not had a viable quarterback until now?

The bears were better because the point in time they performed, there have been some distance extra acceptable athletes than in 1972. the picture of if the 80 5 bears performed a modern crew of this era, they could get their butts whipped.

The '76 Steelers
I refuse to pick any QB that didn't call his own plays . Unlike the modern QB ,the great QBs of the past won games with their brains and their brawn, therefore it's gotta be Johnny Unitas
