Lately I have been hearing about oh" the EVIL Bush Administration allows TORTURE" but what kind of torture or what degree? The only torture I have been hearing is water boarding, loud rock and rap music, freezing, cold rooms, and sleep deprivation(U.S special forces trainees and frat members go through worse).

If this is the kind of torture we are using on Islamic terrrorist to save countless lives(these are the same techniques used that helped capture high-level Al-Qiada members, including the mastermind of 9/11) then I'm all for it. Hell, I don't mind slapping around some radical terrorist like what the police do to suspects during interrogations but, I haven't heard anything about fingers getting cut off or eyes being pull out of the socket, nothing in that degree(which I'm against).

Why is this an issue now? Why this administraion, I mean the CIA has been using torture sense the Cold War.
Are these people(Islamic killers) even under the Geneva Convention?

Wow, flat out amazing question. I was wondering the same thing but just didn't ask. I mean, if the enemy is cutting of heads in front of a camera, and then the parents of these people are seeing it...What the heck are we doing that has got the whole world rilled up about?

The difference is really only that everyone has a phone camera and an internet connection, and the CIA got caught this time. Most of the torture that was done by the military has been identified and (supposedly) stopped. The remaining issue is that the CIA was taking prisoners and not identifying them to the Red Cross and secretly flying them to countries where they could be 'interrogated' expediently (tortured). If there wasn't any question about the legitimacy and a threat to America, I don't think many people would care (especially if they didn't find out about it until later), but there are a LOT of questions about who is really running the country, and who and what the military is really supporting. You and I know the guys wearing the fatigues are just trying to do their jobs. They don't have time to check on every egomaniac that gets elected. That's what the press is supposed to do. Unfortunately, the press is owned by the people who get the most bang for their buck out of the wars, and they went into this war to sell snuff film in between the car commercials.

OK.. lets get this straight. Water boarding, loud rock and rap music, freezing cold rooms, and sleep deprivation. You forgot to mention being led around on a leash by a WOMAN! And having your picture taken! Very degrading - and probably very torturous to an islamic man! Having to be questioned by a WOMAN! Another degrading thing I'm sure!

I think we should take them away from the "population" and treat them really good for a few days with home style food, magazines, exceptionally clean bedding, new clothes, etc, then take them back to their "friends" and thank them - in their own language! - for what they "told" us! Which is nothing! LMAO!

The sad truth is most liberal minded ppl suffer under the delusion that we really all can just get along!

Were I in charge we would create a Marquis de Sade suite! We can outfit the room with the most primitive medical tools in our history and perform surgery on them! They'll tell us everything we want to know. If we check out what they tell us and it's a lie. We move onto a frontal lobotomy and send them home! Think of the money we could save!! And the options we open up for those who remain in custody.

Terrorists are not a nation, they have never signed a paper as a member because they can't be a member of the Geneva convention, only nations agree to these conditions. Terrorists are just rag tag groups of people that do not apply to the Geneva Conventions. Although many people in this country want to give them the same rights as other nations, now that is sick, and most of this is coming from the Democrats you no the appeasement people, they would rather we hold hands with them, and tell them bed time stories.

Has the CIA really been using torture since the cold war? Where is your proof on that claim? Is that just an assumption? I have never heard that the CIA admitted to torture?

I think that we can all agree that this administration is subject to very different circumstances than all other administrations.

Terrorists are not defined in the Geneva Convention, pirates are.

I am amazed that you would agree that torture of any kind is acceptable by US agencies. How long is it going to be before the Feds or the DEA start burning holes in your soles to snitch on brothers that you know do drugs or just gang banged near you. Thin edge of the wedge and you should always protect the underdog.

You are completely correct. The worst "torture" doled out under Bush is mostly psychological in nature and if someone underwent said "torture" they could walk home afterward (unlike torture under Saddams regime when hands and feer were routinely cut off.
The Iraqi soccer team was tortured by Saddams sons for losing matches.
I am so tired of people in the media telling us how bad things are now. It's like they forgot the true atrocities commited by the sadman.

Yes they were making them stand naked together at times, they had to sit on ice and stand for long periods of time and put womens underwear on thier heads..

And yes I think they had to listen to rock groups and let them be barked at by dogs. They also threated to put pigs in thier cells and kill them and bury them in pig skins.

This is the same things college students do to new freshmen

So I wonder when we will be raiding colleges for torture.

No they were not using ( at least this time) electric shock, or drowning or beatings.

yes back in the cold war we used to do alot worst, real torture, that is why Bush is so mad about all of this, all the liberals want to do is cry torture but they don't want to define it,
They call torture anything that makes the prisoner unhappy.

I have the perfect solution for all of the bleeding heart, far left, deaf, dumb and blind liberals who want the US to speak politely to these dirt bags. Read on ........

When the Saudis "questioned" a terrorist in Saudi Arabia - he gave up all of the names of an Islamic terror cell in London.
The terrorists were subsequently arrested in London - just prior to initiating their plan to blow up two commercial jets over the Atlantic Ocean.

Here's my plan:
We treat the terrorist to a steak and egg breakfast, a nice hot shower, we cator to his every need and never bother him with questions about his association with Al-Qiada. This procedure will pacify the far left nut bags who whine about torture.
We then let the Saudis "question" him.

I have heard some sick things. I am hoping they are false. Everything from coffin sized holding cells from female soldiers rubbing menstrual blood on the faces of the Muslim men. They are threatening to kill family members of detainees if they do not sign false statements. Sick, just sick and inhumane.
