Ignoring the fact whether Clinton did something wrong or not...

It means that the allegience to the party means more than the factors of the situation.

Essentially, our system is broken big time. Our representatives will not work together to address an issue, they are more worried about furthering their political party.

When Nixon had to resign rather than face impeachment for high crimes and misdamenors such as lying to the Grand Jury regarding his campaign's break-in of Democratic campaign headquarters the Republicans felt it was the Democrats fault. So when Clinton had sex in the Oval Office the Republicans with majority votes in the House of Representatives turned a private matter into an international scandal and took revenge by impeaching Clinton; not caring that they wasted two years of "work" and 70 million $$ of tax payers money.

According to a political science professor whose name I don't remember, impeachment is fundamentally a political action - if the president's party is control of both houses of congress, impeachment ain't happening unless the guy committed public murder or something.

Even in Clinton's case the House which was Republican impeached him (remember impeachment is like being indicted for the rest of us) but the Senate which was Democratic refused to convict him at his trial.

So there is another example of how we live under the rule of law except for some people, right?

It means the Republicans in the House of Representatives were the ones who voted to impeach him, but not the Democrats. That's what it means by party lines

it means that the house of representatives voted in favor of impeaching President Clinton

they voted along party lines meaning that the republicans all voted for impeachement ant the democrats voted against, but there were enough republicans to carry the majority

President Clinton was impeached (that means he was given a special kind of trial) but he was not convicted in that trial and so he remained president

It was a simple question - Did the President commit purgery? The answer was clearly yes, and the idiot democrats voted on consequesnce and not the actual question. They should have been reprimanded for voting against the impeachment. If it was a real jury in a courtroom, they would have been dismissed by the judge.

It means the Republicans were for impeaching him, and the Democrats were against it.

That was so long ago.

That according to the Republican party, it is worse to have sexual relations with someone other than your wife than it is to violate civil rights of the nation and circumvent the judicial system if you can't meet the criteria for a warrant. That is a twisted point of view.

I think that many of the families of the soldiers serving/have served/died in Iraq would have rather GW screw an intern than do what he did.

It means that you are still living in the past. Most things pass or don't pass in congress along party lines
