Ms. Mohammed wants to bleach her hair and she needs 1 500 ml of 36% hydrogen peroxide solution. The solutions available to her are 30% hydrogen peroxide solution and 40% hydrogen peroxide solution. How many millilitres of each solution should she use? plz show all your work and explain so i understand.

Percent times Quantity + Percent times Quantity = Percent times Quantity

.30(x) + .40(y) = .36(1500)
30% and we don't know how much to use, so use x + 40% and we don't know how much so use y = 36% times 1500 ml we want to end up with.

x + y = 1500 quantity of first solution + quantity of second solution = quantity we wanted 1500

Now solve the two equations using either elimination or substitution.
