You should know how to fix a flat tire! I had a flat once and I had to wait for somebody to fix it for me-- I felt so helpless. :(

there are 3 basic things everyone should know,,and one is how to safely change a flat tire,,second how to safely jump start there car or another car,,third how to change there own oil,,all these are really simple jobs to do,,but over half the drivers out there don't know how to do all 3 of these correctly,,i own a repair shop and i gladly show my customer how,,if they want to know,,and some have asked,,good luck,i hope this help,s.

Definately fixing a flat tire should be in everyone's abilities. You should also know how to add various fluids to your car and how to change them. That should be the bare minimum, of course anything extra will probably save you money at some point.
