Just follow the directions here step-by-step, its pretty self explanatory.

To make your folders private
Open My Computer.
Double-click the drive where Windows is installed (usually drive (C:), unless you have more than one drive on your computer).
If the contents of the drive are hidden, under System Tasks, click Show the contents of this drive.

Double-click the Documents and Settings folder.
Double-click your user folder.
Right-click any folder in your user profile, and then click Properties.
On the Sharing tab, select the Make this folder private so that only I have access to it check box.
Notes

To open My Computer, click Start, and then click My Computer.
This option is only available for folders included in your user profile. Folders in your user profile include My Documents and its subfolders, Desktop, Start Menu, Cookies, and Favorites. If you do not make these folders private, they are available to everyone who uses your computer.
When you make a folder private, all of its subfolders are private as well. For example, when you make My Documents private, you also make My Music and My Pictures private. When you share a folder, you also share all of its subfolders unless you make them private.
You cannot make your folders private if your drive is not formatted as NTFS.

On a Mac you can use Disk Utility to create an encrypted disk image that opens like a folder when you supply the password.

Microsoft was going to provide a way to lock folders, but IT departments complained so they removed the feature.

Yes you can, and I think this is the best so far (that I checked, I've used this for a long time), you can hide there all your secret files... and the best thing? It's free. It's a one beautiful piece of software!

Note that if you have FOLDERLOCK and ACTIVE@ UNDELETE, the latter will not work.

CRYPTAINER LE will work harmoniously with active@ undelete but of course, you cannot see or undelete/unerase it from active@ undelete, also it is not a trial software. As you can see in their website they use 128 bit strong encryption, which means your files/folders are totally safe (unless your forgot your password!).

if your using windows, you should be able to right click the folder and there should be an option there.

if not, right click the folder, choose properties, should be something like hidden or something.

not 100% sure, havent used winblows for more than 5 years.

Put it on a flash drive is the easiest way to go. It will cost around $20/25 if you buy at the right time.

Are you trying to hide something from your parents?
