The distance between A and M is 5, (-2 to -7) Therefore, since M is the midpoint, the distance from M to B must also be 5 in the same direction. -7 to -12.

ok this is what the first sentence says in drawn out format

A M B

A= -2
M = -7

so -7 is in between -2 and B so find the mean

(-2+B)/2 = -7

solve for B and you have your answer
