The scoring is composed of Points, Games and Sets.
- The match is won when a player wins 2 out of 3 sets. On major competitions men must win 3 out of 5 sets.
- Each Set is won when a player wins 6 of the games
- The points on each game are scored based on the clock:
0 (love) - 15 - 30 - 40 - Game. Forty became a short for 'Forty five'

TIES
Players must have a two point advantage in order to win.

TIES ON GAMES
When a game is tied 40-40 is called 'Deuce'. A player must win first the 'advantage' point and if he wins the next point wins the match if he looses the advantage the score goes back to 'Deuce'

TIES ON SETS
If the Set is tied at 5-5 any of the players must win the next two Games to 7-5. If the score remains tied at 6-6 the Set goes to a Tie Break.

TIE BREAK
Who ever wins 7 points (as long as there is at least 2 points advantage) wins the tie break otherwise it keeps going on until a player gains a 2 point advantage.

For each single game, whoever wins 4 points 1st wins the game. The points usually goes 15 - 30 - 40 game. If the two players both get to a 40 - 40 tie, then it becomes a duece. Then the player has to win by two points. If the server wins the point it becomes advantage in (or just add in for short). If the other guy wins the point, it's add out. If they tie it up again, it goes back to duece. This continues until someone wins by 2 points when tied.

There are usually 6 games in a set. Usually sets also need to be won by 2. So if a set gets up to 5 - 5, then whoever gets to the 7th game 1st wins the set. However many sets you play is up to you. But in the pros, the men play the best out of 5 sets and women play the best out of 3 sets. I hope this helps.

love - 15 - 30 - 40 -game

40 - 40 is called deuce...

you should have a 2 point difference... so deuce will result in an game where a 2 point difference is met...

when the serving player makes the first point after deuce... its calles advantage...

set is when a player makes it to 6 games ... whith 2 games difference.. otherwise the set contineous until the 2 games difference is met.
