What a question, if it was on purpose, someone would have done a better job of ot. What do you think a terrorist did, run out and throw manuer or poo over several acres of spinach?
It was only spinach in bags, because the bacteria developed fast in the humidity, people eating bunches of spinich from the same fields didn't get sick
The CDC reports "There is no indication that the outbreak was deliberate, Acheson said. It was unclear when it would be safe for consumers to start buying fresh spinach, he added"
The terrorists want us to crap ourselves to death?.
Please note (below) that the strains of bacterium have been the same since 1995.
Since 1995, there have been 19 outbreaks of foodborne illness caused by E. coli O157:H7 for which lettuce or leafy greens were implicated as the outbreak vehicle. Although tracebacks to growers were not conducted (or "not conclusive") in all of the outbreak investigations, a majority of the outbreaks, including the recent outbreak in September of 2005, traced product back to California, many of which were from the Salinas Valley, though not exclusively.

The strand of the e. coli virus that was found comes from the intestines of animals, often found in fecal material. Any farmer will tell you that some of the cheapest fertilizer is animal manure. THAT is how the spinach came into contact with the virus. Anyone suggesting otherwise needs to find something else in their lives to worry about. That is what the fascists want us to do!

No. Fox News is full of crap, as usual.
These Islamofascists seek to do massive murders (very large amounts) fast effectively and efficiently. If at any given moment their plan goes wrong, they will abort immediately. They will plan an attack, even if it takes years. They have "all the time that they want".

I didn't hear anyone on Fox make any guess as to how it occurred, I certainly didn't hear the mention it was the work of Islamofascists.
My guess it is that the river the irrigation water came from is tainted with farm runoff.

For one thing I am a Fox news fan, OK? But to answer your question, no, there is no terrorist plot. Most likely manure is the culprit. We add natural fertilizer to our fields not realizing that ecoli is the the cows body. So why are we surprised if too much multiplies onto our food and gets us sick.....

No, I read that it is because processing spinach in the field yields greater profit and also makes it easier to pick up e coli from contaminated manure fertilizer or irrigation water. Enjoy your salad.

No it was from conventional farming corporations who wanted to ruin the reputation of organic farmers and turn customers (parents/families) back toward spinach mass grown with pesticides.

It was Bush, Bush, and all his lies. A conspiracy to rid the country of veggie eating liberals. He has visions of making Brocolli more popular than spinach and will stop at nothing to make us eat what he wants us to eat. If you rearrange the letters and add an I it spell hispanic, oh my gosh, the hispanics are taking orders from Bush, oh my gosh!!!!!!!

I hope you are kidding. I mean, I can see Fox news pointing yet another finger at believers of Islam, but I don't think even they would stoop that low to suggest that.
