It's moving along slowly but surely, but I couldn't give you an exact date. I understand the head of Crazy Horse is finished, and the head of his horse is almost done. I went to see it in 1981, and there were no finished areas at all--you could kind of make out where the head and arm would be, there was a hole under where the arm was to go to separate it from the horse, and if they hadn't traced the features of the horses's face on the side with chalk, you wouldn't have known it was going to be a horse. Seeing as how it is one family doing the carving, I think they've done pretty well, and really, the hardest part, the blowing away of the biggest masses of rock without destroying the statue, seems to be about over.

There's a lot of cost involved with finishing the project so there will be a fund drive in Oct 2006. Due to the size of the project and all of te opposition to the project, it will not be finished anytime soon.
