I am sure that it is possible to have a healthy pregnancy. I have heard however, that health risks do increase after the age of 40 so check with your doctor.

VERY RISKY for both the mother and the baby......the best age to is before the age of 35 because if you wait it will incress the chances of the mom needing a c section or the baby comeing out w/ probloms such as down syndrom (menttaley retarded) haveing an im balane in the babys head or it being pre mature haveing health probloms or even miscarriage but it dont mean that you cant still have a healthy baby even when your like 53 or something

Most women over age 35 have healthy pregnancies and healthy babies. Recent studies suggest, however, that older moms do face some special risks.
Since the late 1970s, birth rates for women in their late 30s and 40s have increased dramatically. According to the National Center for Health Statistics, between 1978 and 2000, the birth rates for women age 35 to 39 and 40 to 44 more than doubled.
Advances in medical care now help women in their late 30s and 40s have safer pregnancies than in the past. However, women should be aware of the risks associated with later childbearing so that they can make informed decisions about their pregnancies.

The child has more chance of having Down Syndrom or other genetic disorders.
There is also a far bigger chance of having a miscarriage - but that is because the body itself knows something is wrong with the baby.
Successfull pregnancies occur most during the twenties.
It's your own choice though. It will be the most risky for the baby, though.

It absolutely is possible to have a successful pregnancy, but chances are that if you want to do this, you need to get in to your doctor ASAP to discuss this and see about fertility treatments. Seriously - don't put it off!
One problem is that as we get older, even though we still may be ovulating, the quality of our eggs isn't as good. That reduces the chances of getting pregnant or, if we do get pregnant, increases the chances that the child will have a condition like Down's Syndrome. One of the articles I've linked to below talks about the pregnancy rate of women in their forties.
And yes, unless you're in super-great condition, being pregnant in your forties is a rougher ride than it might have been in your twenties. The stamina just isn't as great.
However, those things don't mean it isn't worth doing, and there's no substitute for talking to your own doctor about your concerns.
Best of luck!

Yes its possible but you have to be very careful. Its both risky for the mother and the child. You have to cut down on your activities so you wont have a miscariage. Good food, vitamins, plenty of rest and visits to the doctor are all you need. It also helps to read a book concerning the topic. Take care.

Its possible, but you would likely have a hard time getting pregnant (since it would be the first time).
The pregnancy would have to be monitored and an amniocentesis would need to be done ( to diagnose/rule out Down's Syndrome, as the risk of it goes way up with maternal age)

Of coarse it may be risky for both, but if the expectant mom is in good health and takes especially good care of herself eats a good diet she should be able to carry full term and have a healthy happy baby.

there is possibility if the woman is healthy and still having her menstrual periods. she might need to see a doctor just to make sure she doesnt have any gynecological problems that might hinder her pregnancy. i remember one of my teachers when i was in grade school, she got married when she was 43 and had 4 kids.

Its possible, but its more likely that the baby will have health problems, and is more susseptable to have the disorders carried by both parents.
