softmore. next semester should I take the maximum load of eighteen credit hours, or should I take 16, then 16 and 16 for next year (in the end I'd be a junior). I do plan to talk to my advisor, but tell me what you think

take the average units (16 quarter units). Somewhere along the line you'll strike a few courses that are worth 5 units or will take some type of PE. This is not like high school where you're comepeting to be a sophomore, junior, etc. and will be held back for it. It doesn't what level you're in as long as you graduate.

I'm with everyone else - go for 16 to keep your schedule and work load manageable. You can always take a summer class if need be. As someone else said, your official "year" doesn't really mean much in college. When you talk with your advisor, the two of you can work out a plan of courses to take over then next 3.5 years so you can graduate on time.

go for the 16. an 18 hour semester is hard-core and you don't want to burn yourself out so early on. wait until you get a couple of semesters under your belt so you can better determine how many full a course load you can handle.

I'd go with the 16 hrs. ea. semester - just because of the study time involved. If you think you can do 18hrs. - go ahead - but I don't advise it. I tried doing that, and the time spent studying, etc. was overwhelming.
