I have already seen christmas things on sale in some stores, I walked past some tree decorations in a shop the other day and I couldn't believe it! It's September and ALREADY they are forcing christmas down our throats! It's no wonder that when it comes to Christmas Eve people have had enough of it already! It just seems to get earlier and earlier each year! The shops want our money already, is there an escape to these holidays being rammed down our necks?

Definately...I hate christmas....isn't it supposed to be in december? But yet here it's in september. And as soon as it's boxing day it's finished andno one talks of it again.
I HATE IT! It's a huge money making scam and pagan too but lets not get into that part on here.

Obviously it doesnt come quicker, as its on the same date, but I believe that the shops are getting their Christmas stuff in way too soon! So by the time Christmas is upon us, it seems like it has been going on for ages!

I'm sure that when I was a kid, the shops never used to be decorated until a couple of weeks before hand. Maybe, I just notice it more now I am an adult!?

The answer to your question is yes. And not only does it seem so, it is so. And the reason is just one word: Marketing. Christmas has become a marketing experience for so many people instead of the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. For many people it is a religious experience, but so many people have unfortunately lost that balance between religion and the marketplace. Your question also brings up many questions of our own. In the United States, the advertising campaign begins even before September, but it gets much more obvious in October, and goes into full swing on the coat tails of Hallowe'en. I go up into our attic right about this time of year and bring out the boxes of things and weed through it all and prune out about half of the stuff from last year. If I try to do that after the season has really begun, it is hopeless. I try to get it down to about three boxes. So crazy. Christmas has gotten completely out of control, especially in the United States, and now I am beginning to see, also in Great Britian. Honestly, I'm rather surprised that I have not seen MORE of it everywhere. I don't even think I've seen much of it where I live and that's a surprise since I live in NYC. Maybe it's cause I haven't been watching the home shopping network. I'm surprised I haven't seen it advertised on amazon.com or any other major shopping websites. But back to your question, it typically does appear that X-mas is coming earlier and earlier every year.

I just take advantage of the sales they have, I am nearly done and have spent very little money. Everyone is getting great gifts but I bought it all on sale. They can try and shove Christmas down my throat all they want, I don't look at it. When the season doe's come I'm done shopping and am in my kitchen baking and listening to Christmas music. HO HO HO...

I was just going to ask the same question. I have been shopping this weekend and seen loads of Christmas items for sale like Christmas cards, decorations, advent calendars and Christmas chocs. It seems to me like the shops want the Christmas shopping period to last for as long as possible so they can increase their profit margins.

Christmas still comes on the 25th of December. If you do not like the early Christmas merchandise in the shops, ignore it or find another shop. If you want to try to make a change, use word of mouth. Get all your friends (and have them get all their friends, and have those friends get all THEIR friends...) to avoid purchasing any Christmas merchandise before the end of October. If no one buys it, the shops won't put it out so early. It's worth a try, anyway. I don't like the Christmas merchandise's being out so early, either. I feel it cheapens and over-commercializes the holiday. Want to start an action? Let me know and I'll certainly join in. Yes it is, but don't fall into the trap of letting it get to you, just ignore it till end of November December, I am looking forward to Halloween first then I will think about Christmas, the shops might want my money but they ain't fecking getting it.. Merry Christmas for the 25th of Dec.

well tehy want to give ideas on decorating your house but yes i agree it is to early but you don't have to buy the things until you feel it is time i think they should wait until after halloween to put christmas things out because that takes away from the other holidays that come before christmas like halloween an thanksgiving

Christmas is the same time every year. If you choose to celebrate it early than of course by the time it comes you are bored. You don't have to do what the stores do. Do what you want when you want.
