here are some things to know if you have a virus..
First, you may think you have a virus, but how do you really tell? Viruses often cause erratic behavior, smiley faces may pop up, your screen may disappear, or your computer may crash. The trigger that activates the virus can be almost anything. For instance, the virus can be activated the minute it is installed. Or it may start its dirty work the next time you start your computer. In many cases, a virus can reside inside your computer in an inactive state, waiting for a certain event (like a certain date) to happen.
From the moment the virus infiltrated your computer to the time that it made itself known to you, you could have innocently spread the virus to others. A very disconcerting sign that you have a virus is when friends call or e-mail to let you know you have sent them a virus-infested e-mail. It can also be transfered via IM's and Peer to Peer's like limewire, Bearshare and Kazaa... SO beware!!!
Now... If you notice any of this CRAPS (lol) in your system.. The first thing you gotta do is STAY CALM.. lol... because people tend to panic when they notice something like viruses... Thats what I did sometime in the best and I deleted some of my system32 thinking the virus is there... and KABOOM!!! I cant start my pc anymore...LOL!!!!
What you gota do is, download an antivirus... My personal reccomendation is AVG (http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/... Because unlike Norton and PCcillin or Mcaffee.. It's not resource hungry.. It's simple.. lol...
another recommendation is zonealarm.. but... It cost like 50$ for the fulll version... but you can email me for a serial (LOL!!).. anyways...
other programs are:
Anti Vir www.free-av.com
Panda anti virus www.pandasoftware.com
Avast! www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home...
My etrust antivirus.cai.com
clam win anti virus www.clamwin.com
and Last but not the least.. KAPERSKY... ( I dont actaully know if it's free or something.. But because it's not that popular, There's less hacks for that program...)
But.. if you dont want any programs.... Try just to scan first...
housecall.antivirus.com
or jsut use free mcaffee virus scan...
but.. remember,, better be safe than sorry!!LOL!!
anyways...
They say only use one anti virus program... I say not... Because... base on my experience... There was this virus that got scanned by Avast but not by AVG.. Well thats just my opinion...
Now... sometimes... your anti virus says they have scanned something.. But cant delete it... what your gonna do is, google the virus name.. then there should be some step by step instructions in some forum... Try that... lol...
anyways... last but not the least but the most annoying and irritating and pissing (lol)
If you still cant delete it.. the last way is to reformat your PC... that sucks I know.. but... It'll surely kill the viruses.. and your files.. LOL!!
And ya... before I forget...
Sometimes... viruses seem to restrict you from accessing the net.. sometimes... it kills your connection or something... now great.. you cant download softwares.. what you gotta do is go to a clean PC.. then download the latest installer from there... now... burn it to a cd or something... then load it to your pc... it shall work... lol
now good luck with you!!!!
and ya.. DO NOT!! ya, you hear me.. DO NOT click Links from emails... even if it says, you'll get $1 000 000!!! instead of the money, it'll give you sh*t!!!! LOL... anyways... attachments are all fine because they are scanned by yahoo... links are not.. lol..

i recommend a couple of quick things, if you got the files on cd's or floppies,go quickly to www.avast.com and download the free home edition of their antivirus. Update it to the last defenition. Later pop in the cd and hold shift so the cd won't load up later right-click on the file and select scan this file with avast and it will scan. If it does not mention this open the avast program look for the icon to scan hard drives and select your cd rom drive and begin scanning. Now if you downloaded the file just do the same as you did as before but instead start up the avast program and scan your hard drive it will scan all files so it will probably scan your downloaded file. this should do it. And if this is hard i will explain go to this link http://avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html
download it and install it go through all it tells you about the installation. Later you will see a little blue (a) icon on you bottom right screen its the avast antivirus protecting you.Right click on the icon later go to update and update AVS program which helps you update the antivirus database.update the program also on the same menu later get the cd and go to my computer right click on the cd icon later search the menu scan D: or E: F: what ever letter your cd drive or floppy drive is and that's it you will know if it has a virus. if you downloaded a file right click on the file and select to scan that way you know if you have a virus.

Purchase the latest copy of Norton's Anti-Virus Software.
Load it on your computer and always check for updates to that software. it will scan all incoming EMails and your computer for junk that has no business being there.
You will also need some Spyware. That will prevent the entry of, and remove programs that have slipped into your system to track and report on your activities, sites visited, your knick name, your address, your name, etc.
Check for updates on this software also. I recommend "Zone Alarm" for this purpose.

Viruses are very dangerous and annoying. But knowing whether you have one is easy.
Follow these steps and you should be fine.
1. Go to www.free.grisoft.com and install ewido antimalware and AVG free edition antivirus.
2. go to www.safer-networking.org and install spybot search and destroy
3. go to www.lavasoft.com and install adaware se personal.
Install all of these and scan with them. Delete anything they find. If you want to scan a specific file, right click on it and click scan with AVG or scan with ewido after you install these programs of course.
Happy surfing!
edit: these are all free

receive Superantispyware and (replace) run an entire test. * properly-knownshows viruses and secret agent ware that are very very difficult to discover without conflict to different antivirus utility. replace (instruction manual) on a regular basis loose.

dont open ANYTHING you're not expecting. secondly, save the files to a folder and run a virus scan on them from whatever antivirus program you're using. duh.
