x = # of 3 legged stools
32 - x = # of 4 legged stools

3x + 4(32 - x) = 108
3x + 128 - 4x = 108

x = 20 = # of 3 legged stools
32 - x = 12 # of 4 legged stools

20*$15 = $300
12*$20 = $240

Total = $540

Cost per leg of 4-legged stools = $20/4 = $5
Cost per leg of 3-legged stools = $15/3 = $5

Therefore, the cost of all the stools is
108*$5 = $540

$540.

There are 108 legs to go around. 32 three-legged stools would use up 96 legs, leaving 12 legs left. That means there are 12 four-legged stools, and 32-12=20 three-legged stools. (12*20)+(20*15)=540.

I don't care how many of each stool there are.
It is $5 per leg (20/4=5, 15/3=5). there are 108 legs. $5*108=$540

What an appropriate question! Not to be an attention whore but...that's the exact terminology my therapist used! He said you can't have a marriage that is lacking in two or more areas because it's like having a bar-stool missing legs...you can semi-balance on 3 but you can't on 2 or less. It's not quite as safe as 4 but you can balance on 3 if you are paying attention... I am going to guess larger women wouldn't pay attention and thus would make it unsafe.

32
32-x for 3 legs
x for 4 legs
96-3x+4x=108 legs
x=108-96
x=12
32-12=20

multiply the number of stools by their respective price and you get 300 and 240 =$540

You could also just multiply the number of legs by the price because it is afterall, $5 a leg. $540
