No. The death penalty is vengence pure and simple. If somebody maliciously killed a loved one of mine I would hope that I could have them sent to the States to be waterboarded by the CIA in the morning and raped by "Big Bubba" every evening for a couple of years. No torturing though, that would be uncivilized.

Such questions are two edged swords, they cut both ways. To begin with "civilized " people do not commit crimes that would warrant death. So then whence come those who do? They come from the "UNcivilized" sector. If a people will not destroy the beasts that prey on them how long will they survive? It's not possible to destroy the life itself, only the form that carries it, which then commits it to another dimension (in which it may not fare so well.)
War is a universally sanctioned "death penalty" used by every organized society to rid itself of it's predators, and we accept that as an unfortunate part of life on earth. There will always be certain elements of any society whose sensibilities are too delicate to entertain such finalities as death by sentence, but there will always be those who are perfectly willing to take advantage of that kindness to license themselves for barbarity.

Yes. When a person claims the lives of many of commits a crime against children, or any crime from which there can be no reasonable way they could ever be reintroduced into society, then their lives should be forfeit. We as taxpayers should not have to spend our hard earned dollars to keep them locked up where they have more freedoms and rights than they gave their victims. Nor should we foot the bill for them to have the food and cable they get when there are good, hardworking men and women who cannot afford to do the same for their own families. The jails are overcrowded as it is and I for one think there should be no appeal if you are found guilty beyond a shadow of a doubt and just be given an express ticket to the chair.

There must be. Look at all the unborn children who are put to death every day. They are the most innocent of our people. As for those who have chosen to commit heinous crimes, take innocent lives, rape children, beat their spouses to death, kill their own family members, I definitely support the Death Penalty. It's a travesty of justice in a world where there are mentally ill people who sleep under bridges, the elderly are neglected, abused and forced to choose between food and medication to allow convicted killers live in prison for years. Our taxes pay for these scumbags to have food every day, a place to sleep, TV to watch, needed medications and health care, all paid for by hard working citizens who obey the law. I support the death penalty and would be in favor of an express lane.

I would believe in the death penalty if you could be certain that the person is guilty. The problem is the fact that there are some people that are executed that are later to found to be innocent.

As long as there are murderers and rapists, there will always be a place for the death penalty.
