Today there were protests across the globe demanding intervention in the genocide in Darfur. This situation has been going on for ages and was actually much worse a few months ago, yet nobody noticed. Why the sudden interest? It wouldn't have anything to do with George Clooney would it? Are people really that obtuse?

It's all about timing. Many of us have known of these atrocities and have tried to get others to care. It always seems to fall on deaf ears. People are so pulled in different directions with news overload. But. in the end it really takes momentum, a slow news cycle (no Natalie Holloways) and worldwide protests. We are witnessing that right now. Sad thing is how "too little too late" it is for so many innocents!

They don't like our present war, and want to find us another one of their choosing?

It's sad, but people, especially the media, simply don't care about Darfur.

I don't know. I wish people would have started protesting earlier. We don't need George Cloony to tell us how bad it is there.

What's even stranger is that there are people who think that the UN can or will do anything about it.
