I had my son 5 1/2 months ago. Over the last 4 or 5 weeks, especially the last week and a half, I noticed that my stomach hurts a lot and I feel sick. I know I'm not pregnant and this might be too much information, but I've either had large bowel movements or very small ones with like 4 or 5 days between. I'm over all very healthy and I don't eat junk and I drink a lot of water. I find that my stomach has just been unpredictable and I have been very tired and have no energy. I've heard from some that after a few months post pregnancy you can have some kind of vitamin deficiency that can give the same symptoms, but I'm just not sure. I know it seems silly, but it's unusual for me. Any ideas would be helpful.

Stress isn't a huge factor. I exercise daily and I'm not one to stress over everyday issues. I just think this is unusual for me.

Make sure it is not your gall bladder. It is very common after pregnancy to get gallstones. I was deathly sick(seriously) after I had my son, and could not eat more than a few hundred calories a day for 2 months until my friend realized it was my gallbladder and I had to have it taken out. My symptoms were horrible stomach and chest pains and irregular bowel movements, sweating and sometimes dizziness. If that is not it I still think you need to tell your doctor and make sure everything is okay.

It takes 2-3 years to recover fully from pregnancy, and truth to tell, I've NEVER recovered my pre-pregnancy energy level.

Your stomach might be extremely sensitive right now. I find that oatmeal, the full size groat from Whole Foods, helps to regulate my system like nothing else. It makes use of the water, gathers up anything else lying around, and keeps me sane and regular. I eat it with raisins or dried cranberries and a little butter. Sometimes I add sugar, sometimes maple syrup, sometimes neither.

Oatmeal and oat bran helped me regain my weight level and desensitize my tummy.

Good luck to you and your new little one!

Are you breastfeeding your baby? Maybe you're just getting run down and need to take some vitamins. I kept taking the prenatal vitamins for the first year that I had my daughter because I was breastfeeding and wanted to make sure I got all the vitamins/minerals I needed.

sounds like a hernia. when you are pregnant your stomach muscles are stretched and so this weakens them. when you have weak stomach muscles you can sometimes get a hernia which is part of the bowel coming through the weakened muscles. see a doctor about this.

Take Vit. C, it helps in the absorption of iron in the body which is absorbed in the small intestine. Do you still take Iron supplement?
