go to this website: www.turtleloveranch.com they will take the red earred slider (you can ship it to them) I've done so before.
If you really want to keep it then buy a tank for it/Terrarium will work aswell. Fill the tank about 3 or 4 inches (up to the turtles height) and put in a rock that the turtle can go to and bask (also need a heat lamp) above the water. you can get a 10 gallon tank for about 10 bucks, heater will cost about 10-20, food- 5-10 bucks (or feed it feeder fish, petco sales them for about 10 or30 cents). It shouldnt cost you over 100 bucks.

You should consult a expert on how to care for a rehabilitate this animal it may need special care, also in some states certain turtles and other wildlife are illegal to own. It would be better off in the wild, or at the very least a shelter that knows how to care for it properly. I understand about getting attached but wild animals should be in the wild, especially when providing for the basic needs would be financially difficult as well.

According to the website below, the red-eared slider has a very specific habitat in which to live. If you try to keep it in an aquarium, it will surely die. Why don't you call your nearest zoo to find out how you can really help this poor animal.

Red Ear Slider is a turtle.
Go to:http://www.redearslider.com/ and email the guy. I'll bet he can help find a home for it. If you cannot afford to keep it.

'Rescued' from the wild? Release it as soon as possible. Baby turtles are hard enough to care for, but wild-caught babies tend to suffer because of the change to a captive state.
'Rescued' from someone who did not care for it right? Contact a reptile or wildlife rescue, animal shelter, or your local reptile club/herpetological society.
It takes a lot to keep a turtle right. Housing, lighting, filters, heaters, basking sites, diet...
You can do it on the cheap- but it ain't easy.

My red eared slider lived in my basement. I would go and find her every day and feed her turtle pellets and lettuce in a sink full of water. She did just fine but the best thing to do would be to put it in a pond or a kiddies pool with water and rocks etc. So it would mimic their natural environment as much as possible.

If it's healthy & uninjured then release it where (or near to where) you found it. Red-eared Sliders, even babies, are perfectly capable of caring for themselves without human interferance.
