My best friend is moving away and I have no idea what to give her before she does. We have been best friends since third grade and now it is our junior year of high school and she has to go. She can't even finish the rest of her junior year with me. It is so devastating. We are practically attached at the hip. I can't even tell myself that she is moving. Please help me with what to give her. I want it to be something that she will never forget me and it will be sentimental.

XXXXXXXXXXX words and actions to me mean more than anything material. Tell her how much she means to you and how her being there with you have enhanced your life and how much you will miss her and will stay in contact. Good luck hun.

Make a scrapbook. Write down moments that you'll never want her to forget. Make sure you put in details and don't be vague. If you have pictures of the two of you, paste it on a piece of hard paper, and put glittery stuff all over it. Write her a letter in the end to be opened only in 5 years. And then one in ten years. Write 100 things you're going to miss about her. And in the back of the book, make her a promise that no matter what - you both will meet somewhere specific at a certain time and place. And that ever 1/2/5/or ten years, you will both always come back no matter what. Pick a special day for the both of you.

Have you thought about maybe a memory book of you too and how much she means to you as a friend.
Depending on the age. you could make her some stationary with some self addressed and stamped envolops so she's sure to write you. make a care package basket of things that will remind her of the good the good times and the fun times to come. bye promising to meet once in awhile wither it's half way or visiting eachother. or Instant messaging.
I guess most of all i would want the support and blessing to be able to move one and know that the memories and times shared are always going to be remembered.
give her a calling card and tell her to call when times are tough or in good times. give her a journal to write things down when she needs to write down memories of the past and now the present. As tough as it maybe for you it's maybe toughier for her. so all you can do is make it easier on her is to make it easier on you.
hope these few things work

the person who answered your question, saying you wouldnt remember her name, was way out of line. obiously they have never had any good friends! sorry to hear that this is happening to you two, i feel for you. a phone card is a good answer. i like making scrap books. they are popular these days, and are like a personalized yearbook, with memorabilia from your many many years as best friends, good and bad times. one other thing i do is make an anklet, bracelet, etc., with an angel hanging on it to go with her wherever she goes to remind her that you are with her. one thing, at least you are almost adults, and youll be able to see each other within too long of a time. keep in touch for sure, so you dont lose each other in the shuffle. besides the phone and mail, theres the computer these days too.
