He's 6 weeks old (and was 6 weeks early). He eats about 4 oz. every 3 hours (except after his 11 pm feeding, he crashes until about 4am). Is it ok to let him sleep through a feeding at this point (if he does)?

sounds like you're doing great. babies will let you know when they are hungry and if they have had enough. i'm thinking that if you are lucky enough to have a baby that will sleep at night, let him. as long as he has no health problems i say let him sleep, he'll wake up if he's hungry.

Sounds like you have been blessed with a perfect baby. Eating anywhere between 2-4 hours for formula fed babies is just right. Because he was born early, he is probably just about at a weight equal to an average newborn now, so 4 ounces would be right for his weight. Sleeping 5 hours at night for a newborn is every new mother's dream. So, no, don't wake him up in the middle of the night as long as he is eating during the day. Enjoy your several hours of uninterrupted sleep. Congratulations on the birth of your son.

Yes! Let him sleep! You need your rest too! He may just eat more at his next feeding if he sleeps a little bit longer though. There's no harm in that. This is exactly what I did. I didn't wake my daughter to eat if she slept longer and my pediatrician was fine with it. As long as your baby is gaining weight and eating well, I wouldn't worry. Congrats on your new baby boy!

yes, unless your doctor says otherwise. It sounds very normal to me a mother of two, for him to eat 4oz every 3 hours, and most babies sleep alittle longer at night before needing to eat again. He is just getting into a normal sleep pattern if I where you I would enjoy it and let him sleep as long as he eats before bed time. Good Luck with your new baby, they grow fast so cherish every moment. Take lots of pictures.

When my son was born, I was very concerned because he slept alot, and I was afraid he wasn't geeting enough nutrition and may actually starve. I asked his doctor about this and she told me that when a baby gets hungry enough he would wake up and want to be fed. This is true, I now know. I followed her advice, and fed him when and as much as he wanted, and today, he is a very happy, healthy, and energetic eight year old. All babies are unique, and therefore, there are no cut and dry rules for their individual needs. If you are concerned, I urge you to speak with your baby's doctor and voice your concerns to put your mind to ease.

At his age it is best for you to let your baby eat as much as he wants, as often as he wants. You don't need to wake him if he is sleeping (5 hours? lucky you!) as he will wake up and ask you when he's hungry. Short of any major medical problems, babies are self regulating and won't starve or gorge themselves.

once you've been completely breastfeeding, there's no prefer to initiate solids at 6 months, and really it would want to be valuable to delay solids longer. study have shown that delaying solids can help help in combating nutrition hypersensitive reactions and with the intention that your youngster's digestive gadget is fairly waiting for such an laborious interest. putting out solids also oftentimes leads to constipation. I extraordinarily recommend you do a touch extra study in this topic before easily starting up fairly than in basic terms taking your pediatrician's word for it. Many pediatricians (like my previous one) are nicely-meaning yet nicely-experienced on the formula-fed toddler and lower than-knowledgeable about breastfed toddlers. for sure, I easily do not recognize what you feed yours, so this can nicely be ineffective recommendations to you! yet certain, you would possibly want to initiate solids in case you want. some human beings pick rice, yet because it would want to be constipating some others pick unmarried-grain oatmeal or vegetables. Your toddler is in basic terms experimenting at this age and hence regardless of you want to provide her (probable in basic terms once an afternoon) might want to be high quality. you may initiate with some tablespoons of toddler cereal blended with breastmilk (or formula if you're formula-feeding). The stuff I used stated firstly an equivalent percentage of cereal fluids (a million Tbsp of liquid in accordance to at least a million Tbsp of cereal), yet my toddlers in a lot of circumstances cherished their cereal thicker. for sure, contained in the starting up you would possibly want to be very careful now to not blend it too thick or the toddler will choke. easily, if I had to do all of it over again, i might want to have switched pediatricians to at least one extra knowledgeable about breastfeeding and waited a lot longer to introduce solids (even perhaps a three hundred and sixty 5 days). i develop into completely breastfed for the first three hundred and sixty 5 days again contained in the 70's even as it develop into unprecedented, and that i grew to develop into out large! :-D it really is a large decision. Please do your homework before making it!

As long as he is sleeping he is fine. Infants only wake if they need something. Hope this helps!
