I support the space program. I do not think that is is wasting money because the human race has learned alot since it all started.

Yes, I do think it's a waste of money. The space shuttle was never a good design; the designers tried to make it too reusable and ended up sacrificing overall efficiency. What we need is a much better rocket, presumably a simple, easy-to-use, disposable one with a standardized payload size and a methane-burning engine. The space shuttle is just plain not a very good spaceship.

Yes, I do support the shuttle launches (and the entire space program). After all, a number of useful products we use today comes from the researches and technologies made during the entire space program.

To the first question - no.
To the second question - yes.

The shuttle was used to build the Space Station but served no other use. America has not returned to the moon in 34 years and the money used for research is being spent in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Actually, yes I do. Shuttle launches enable us to learn new things about the universe, and as for the people inside the shuttles...they know that they are taking a risk, but they also know that they are helping us learn more.

I'm a taxpayer. Therefore I support the shuttle launches whether I approve of them personally or not.

Yes and yes.

I support the Shuttle launches because I like to see them doing something constructive for the advancement of mankind.

We could be getting into space for cheaper and learning more without the direct involvement of humans--which would reduce cost in itself.

When you consider not getting ready for Apophis in 2036, the need to colonize after the earth reaches 10 billion in 50 years, or some other earth shattering event....the sooner we get to other planets/moons, the better.
