positive impact: i would say Jesus Christ. he came to die on the cross for our sins. and his exsistence has angered the jews who dont feel he was the (or is) the messiah and has inpired Christians. some people have created war because of Him. and that is sad, but i dont think it takes much to incite war among men.
negative impact: i would say Hitler. he committed the largest genocide EVER. and countries today get very nervous with dictators who talk of ethnic cleansing, because of what he was capable of getting away with under the watchful eye of the WORLD. i even think extremist and terrorists reflect on his kind power as an example or as a motivation to get rid of key political leaders.
what's ironic is that Jesus was of Love and Peace and came as a Savior, the other (Hitler) came to kill and destroy who didn't believe in Jesus...and yet he had all the attributes of pure Evil.

Jesus Christ or one of the other prophets because religion had a lot do with the recent history of the world like after 0 AD but before that there was not really man all important people. and really before 3,000 BC in most parts there were no difference in social classes so it was hard for an individual impact so they would be why it would require a more recent person like Moses, Jesus, or Muhammad. For as close as you can get to the history of the world

Without a doubt Adolf Hitler. I know he has done more harm than good but still i believe that Hitler is the one person who triggered technology and science(which in turn helps the economy to flourish). Most inventions which make our live;s comfy today was after or during the world war two and Hitler was the person who was responsible for it.

There are two people I would name--Alexander the Great and Ghenghis Khan. Because of them the world expanded its scope beyond anything that had ever been known before. Alexander linked Europe and South Asia, Ghenghis Khan linked Europe and East Asia. The world has seen nothing like them before or since in terms of their expansion of ideas and world views.

While I can most definitely agree with Lissette about Jesus Christ, she needs to restudy her history of murderers, Hilter was most definitely not the biggest mass killer. He was not even number two.
Mao killed 63 million of his countrymen.
Stalin killed 23 million of his.
As to Postgrung's apt comments about Mesopotamia, ironic isn't it that possession of real estate in the sandbox (Iran and Iraq) is still a pressing issue today.
