Triangles KLM and UVW are similar. the length of the sides of KLM are 8+3x, 2x+96, and 92+2x. the perimeter of KLM is 476. the longest side of UVW is 24+6x. Whats the perimeter of UVW?

First you need to solve for x. You know the perimeter of KLM equals the sum of the lengths of the sides. Hence,
(8+3x) + (2x+96) + (92+2x) = 476.
Using that, you can solve for x.
Then plug your x-value into the equations for KLM's side lengths, to figure out which side is longest.

The ratio of (24+6x) to the longest side of KLM is the same as the ratio of UVW's perimeter to KLM's perimeter.

That should be enough to let you solve the problem. I'll let you figure out the details yourself!

The perimeter of KLM is 196 + 7x. The longest side of KLM is either 96+2x or 8+3x, depending on how big x is. If x = 88, there is no longest side, if x < 88, 96+2x is the longest side, if x > 88, 8+3x is the longest side.

Suppose x<88.
Then the perimeter of UVW = (196+7x)*(96+2x)/(24+6x)

Suppose x>88
Then the perimeter of UVW = (196+7x)*(8+3x)/(24+6x).

Note that a side can't be < 0, so X must be > -(8/3)

DAMN!!! I didn't notice that you gave us the perimeter of KLM = 476!!!

Perimeter of KLM= (8+3x)+(2x+96) + (92 +2x) =7x +196=476
7x = 280 or x =40
Therefore sides are 128,176, 172
The longest side of KLM is 176......................i
Longest side of UVW = 24 +6(40) =264...ii
Ratio of their sides are 264/176=1.5
Therefore perimeter of triangle UVW = 476x1.5=714 units
