Neither of these things should happen until a person, male or female, has had enough time and life experience (which cultivates awareness) to understand the gravity of such choices. Both sex and marriage, at their most meaningful level, require a deep knowledge of self - if you do not know yourself, you can not know another or their intentions.

Without a sincere understanding of who you are and what you need, these precious relations are empty and will surely cause more pain (and trouble) than pleasure.

Self-respect means doing what is best for you, NOT succumbing to momentary temptations. Be smart- the price of instant gratification can be life-long, even deadly.

I am not a prude by any stretch, I simply want people to make informed decisions. The rewards are worth the wait, I assure you.

You will get the wait for marriage answer a lot and ideally that is when you should start having sex. But in today's world the two do not often go together. You should wait to have sex until you are old enough to support any child you may create. The ability to hold a job is just one sign of maturity. An even better sign of maturity is being enough of an adult to use birth control until you are ready for a child. What age is this? It would depend on the girl. Some will say 16 but I would not agree with them. I guess it would be somewhere around 18. Out of high school and in college. Remember the birth control. You need to use something and he needs to use a condom. This will protect you from STD's as well as unplanned pregnancy.

Girls should begin sexual relations when married, preferably after the completion of college and the start of a career.
I would think age 24 would be ideal

Wait until you are married. Yes people make mistakes, but they should learn from them. NO sex before marriage.
