so the pocket is between the tackles... so if your QB and move left or right past the tackle your out of the pocket. what happens if you move backwards when are you out of the pocket?

Pocket is usually defined by the space between the tackles and as much as a 5 step drop. If you drop farther than the 5 steps the angles that defensive rushers have on the QB are harder to defend/block and the QB becomes vulnerable.

The pocket is between the two tackles. You're out of it when you go beyond either of them.
