Does taking only 2 years of foreign language affect one's acceptance into UC? If so, how much does it affect?

The requirement for UC is a 2-year foreign language program. However, it is recommended that one takes 3 years. So, if I only do two years, will that hinder my acceptance into UC's like Berkeley, Los Angeles, or Davis? (I plan to major in Science) I really dont' want to do third-year Japanese since it will only bring down my GPA... what should I do??

It shouldn't make that much of a difference if you can show off your strengths in other areas. As long as you challenge yourself with the other classes that you take in school (Honors/AP/IB), it won't matter much. Missing one year of a foreign language class won't be enough to bring down a strong application.
