If you only want an iPod for music, get the big Nano. No hard drive means a much more reliable product with tremendous battery life. The new 8 gig holds 2,000 songs. That is a ton of songs in your pocket.

If you need an iPod for movies or TV shows, go with the 80 gig for just $100 more. With all the new things coming via download, you will want capacity.

Do you have that many songs to put on it? I think it takes like 7,500 songs or some ridiculous number like that. I get tired of a song if its been more than a month that I've heard it. I got the Nano (4GB) and its way more than I need but I love it. The 30GB would've been way over the top.

Once you buy an iPod, you'll be hooked to them. That's the only problem. The proprietary file type on iTunes can only be played on an iPod. They are great devices, but there are better devices for the money. The only thing I see going for the iPods is the fact that there is alot of aftermarket accesories to make them fit into your life.

I have an iPod an I think it's great. I love it and I think it's the best mp3 player so I say go for it. And if you want to watch music videos, movies, tv shows go for the iPod video.
If you only want music go for the iPod nano, it's way smaller and easy to carry with you and it's also cheaper.

I bought a 2GB Nano.
My daughter bought a 30GB Video Ipod.
My daughter has now traded hers for mine.
The video thing apparently was overrated or short lived.
