Like a woman gets pregnant has no problems, carries the baby to term and then has a normal labor. It seems like there's a lot of negative stories on here. I thought pregnancy was a wonderful part of life that was mostly happy and uneventful (in the way of complications anyways!) Thanks

I think "uneventful" is different than a low-risk pregnancy. For instance, the vast majority of pregnancies are considered low-risk, and can be attended by a CNM in the states, but that doesn't necessarily make them 100% uneventful.

I know my mom had completely uneventful pregnancies for three of her pregnancies - so she thinks my minor complications are way out of whack... but really, they aren't so bad.

I had a normal and uneventful (and happy) pregnancy up until 30 weeks... my baby dropped early, I decided to go in just to get checked out since I was between appt and had a 4wk span in between them at that point. I ended up being in and out of L&D for regular, persistent, and strong contractions - but nothing happened to my baby :) I just ended up having an irritable uterus.

It made parts of the last trimester tough, but not a completely negative experience, and now I'm 37wks and ready to go!

I know its kind of sad to hear all these negative stories. Which is why I mostly tune out the labor stories I hear :) Some people at great at being objective when they share a story... then I'll listen to soak up the information. Other people have stronger feelings associated with their delivery and tend to force ideas on me. In that case, I nod my head and let it go in one ear and out the other.

There's a chance I may have a C-section, complication or an induction... but I'm not going to worry about it. I'll probably have a labor that's somewhere within the grand confines of what obstetrics defines as normal, and I'll be holding a child in my arms within five weeks.

Good luck!

I don't know what the stats are (and they are probably different in all countries) but I can tell you that I had two totally textbook pregnancies. No morning sickness in the pregnancy with either one, no complications with labor, etc. I'm sure there are many others people that will tell you the same thing. Just look after yourself well when you are pregnant and that will increase your odds or having a great pregnancy.

I had an amazing pregnancy. It was my first and was awsome. I had about a week of morning sickness but nothing to write home about. I was a very happy pregnant lady. My only complaints were in late pregnancy when i developed pregnancy induced carpal tunnel syndrome and had swollen feet. The complications came during delivery when i had an emergwency c-section. Maybe that is how it works....easy pregnancy, troubled delivery....who knows.

mine was fairly uneventful. i did have placenta previa, nothing serious though. my labor was 6 hours long and he was a month early. he is happy and healthy now. i don't think anyone has a normal pregnancy where EVERYTHING is normal, especially the first one. you have no idea what to expect so first time moms sometimes make something out of nothing.

I had 3 pregnancies, one with twins. I had no problems what so ever. The babies were all on time and healthy.
