When the baby can sit supported and hold its head up. Otherwise, the baby's head can sag forward and compromise its airway. There have been a couple tragic cases where a baby suffocated and died in an umbrella stroller because it was too young/small to be there and the parents didn't notice it was having trouble breathing.

The stroller I use (Maclaren) says around 4 months of age. I started using mine around 3 months but mine has a recline and most dont. If I had one without a recline I would have waited longer.

When your baby can sit supported and can hold his or her head up. My son is 7 months old, and we've been using one for about 3 months. I would suggest getting one and testing it out on a short walk, around the block, or if you can't take a quick walk outside, just wheel him around in the house for a bit. If he(or she) falls forward or off to the side, then your baby is probably not ready just yet. But if he seems content, then you are probably good to go!

I use it starting when they can hold their heads up really well and their back is getting stronger--about 5 or 6 months depending on the baby.

When the baby is old enough to hold its head up really good, otherwise, the baby will have its head in its lap.
