I fail to understand Liberal Americas disgust with what happened in New Orleans after Katrina.
What I mean is, Society in New Orleans pre-Katrina was exactly what Liberals have preached for decades now.
Hand to mouth, Cradle to the Grave, Government subsidized existance of the helpless masses.
The whole "It takes a village" crap. I mean isn't this what Liberals wanted?
A Liberal-Socialist Utopia where no one had to exert any ambition, any effort to fulfill their own dreams, the Government would provide everything.
Just sit at home watching soap operas, waiting for your next Goverment check.
Well, now we see just how prepared this type of community is in a crisis. Heck even the local leadership was lost!
And all we saw on the news were people standing around the Stadium like little birds in a nest with their beaks in the air crying "Feed me! Feed me!"
Well, my question is this. Is there an honest Liberal out ther now who will finally acknowledge that this isn't working

Seriously, I hate people that talk about New Orleans that way. And it's not just the fact that people are taking New Orleans for face value and weighing the bad (crime... which by the way, if ya'll haven't noticed, Camden, NJ is the #1 highest crime rate in US and new orleans is in the low end of the top 10). There are so many fires destroying California right now and everyone still wants to rebuild that. Why? Why judge N.O for one mistake? Find out when the last seriously damaging hurricane was. I almost guaruntee that it was at least a decade ago. These fires in California are EVERY WEEK! And don't give me the crap about "New Orleans is a cesspool of crime and filth" because...um.. hello, COMPTON. There are humans in New Orleans, living and breathing, cut us and we bleed... why shouldn't we be entitled to a home to call our own? And people didn't sit around and wait for government checks to come in, they had to haul off debris and there leftover memoirs as well as bury empty caskets. I had to bury my little sister because a 250 ft pine tree fell on top of her. I also had to goto a few other funerals with the same old story. So, I have come to the conclusion that you people are idiots. Republican, conservative, morons who take things for face value. Let's see how you handle a situation like that. Try burying your children, mother, father, siblings, etc..Let's see how YOU handle the government that YOU thought would protect you, not even give the food and water-the basic essentials of life. Let's see what happens when you go bankrupt, lose your house, lose your family, and lose all faith in government. And until you do... I would love to see if you still wanted to post this question.

the possibility of fulfillment is nill. Ever be conscious that as quickly as a liberal coverage fails all that's mandatory to make it helpful is much greater money? we've been pumping further and further money into welfare and different classes for some years with out lead to sight. In that factor it has destroyed a extensive component of the black community and black households. the sorrowful element is that the human beings those classes harm the main are people who keep balloting to for those comparable recommendations. in case you keep doing the comparable element repeatedly yet anticipate distinctive outcomes that's in simple terms loopy. The Rev Wright ought to do lots greater to help his congregation if he might carry forth fire and brimstone approximately how undesirable those classes are. perhaps he ought to take a seat and consult with bill Cosby because of the fact he seems to have a take care of on it. Socialist classes interior the U. S. there are numerous. Welfare, the SCHIP application, and any application the place you're taking money from one guy or woman to furnish to a distinctive. The removing of god and all faith from peoples lives as a manner to make a mundane society is an thought the the two Socialists and Communists have self belief and attempt for. Elana- Are you kidding???? the place do you get you information and information.??? the U. S. has the 2nd optimal company taxes interior the worldwide and is why an incredible type of agencies have left the U. S.. there are an incredible type of worldwide places that have far much less taxes than we do and numerous different have long previous to a flat tax.

I'm a liberal, and I agree. I think that government housing is a huge disaster, and so is paying more welfare with each kid, and so was giving 14 year old girls apartments of their own when they had a baby. It was all disastrous. And everyone knows what New Orleans was like BEFORE Katrina, so like, dah. What they hell do you expect when you have a huge poor black population like that, many of them criminals, when disaster strikes?
That's what happens when you don't have money, you have nowhere to go and have to rely on the charity of others to help you.
But that doesn't mean it wouldn't happen anyway.
I think you would be foolish if you thought somehow that 'trickle down' economics would keep these people from being in persistant poverty if they would only just all 'get a job'.
The poor will always be with us,
you can blame them all you want, they may be down on their luck, not afforded much opportunity in their life, raised wrong, lazy, who knows, but they will always be there.
Conservative philosophy is not a cure for poverty, get that out of your head. Kicking people off of welfare will not make these people suddenly not poor anymore, they will still be poor, but now you won't have anything to ***** about. I'm not saying that giving handouts is a cure either, they tried and it failed--it wasn't because it wasn't a good thing for people who didn't abuse the system, it was. IT's just that a certain group of people abused it horribly and government housing became a nightmare ghetto of misery.
Yes I agree that it is up to individual responsibility to an extent, but there has to be safety nets. -- You can't rely on church charity alone for the vast needs of the poor in America-- there are too many. Taken to the 'conservative' extent many of you seem to preach, you would rather see children starving in the street in tattered cloths once again than to 'think' one red cent of your tax money went to keeping children clothed and fed.
And exactly WHY are conservatives so against abortion than? hmm? You'd hate to take care of them after they are born, sh!t, you'd have them instead dying a SLOW death from starvation!!!

This is annoying. What you people do NOT see are folks like me, who have jobs, have homes, did not stand around at the Dome waiting with our hands out, and have gotten on with our lives. There are thousands of people living here in New Orleans who are living ordinary lives, and the media will never show us to you. It's not Utopia, but it is Home. I have a job. I have a place to live. No one 'gave' it to me. Stop lumping us all together with the garbage you saw on the television.

Ignorance... damn shame.

New Orleans was a wonderful city.

It's completely unfounded to apply right-wing talking points to a single municipality. The fact is the federal govt was the only entity with the resources and authority to adaquately respond to a catastrophe of this magnitude.

We failed on all levels and continue to do so.

you are Bi-polar aren't you... I knew it.

Well, dude, the whole Liberal/Conservative dichotomy is foolish.

Liberals... Conservatives... meaningless terms. So called Conservatives have, over the period of this war, funded so much welfare it is insane. You do know that Veterans Benefits is welfare don't you? probably not, you know little about funding as evidenced by your borderline (hyuck hyuck) fascist take on what actually happened in New Orleans. The people living there did not get adequate welfare, thus were unable to get the help needed to survive a natural disaster. Cuba who suffered a 10x worse Hurricaine managed to evacuate all people, I think 3 lives were lost, because local Communist cadres went in to the area and got the people out. Socialism is all about hat stuff, ya know, not letting people stay to die and turning them back at the bridge because of Caplitalist love of private property over the value of human life. That is free markets at work, turning starving people back at gunpoint out of irrational fear and more than likely a tinge of racism.

well, when you come off your manic trip, try reading some perspectives other than Ann Coulter (eating disordered transgendered person) and listening to Rush Limbaugh (oxycotin addicted junkie nodding off to William Krystal reprints) or your pal (I am sure) David Horowitz (first a Stalinist for the Left, now a Stalinist for the Right).

Ok, your Lithium is in the cabinet go take it.

Yeah, they deserved to burn to death, starve to death, overexpose and all the well earned punishments for being stupid Liberals, right?

That sounds just like the typical Conservative excuse for Bush's non-reaction to Hurricane Katrina. Just blame the Liberals, right? Nut up, and stop being another one of Bush's bitches. I mean, it's not like you'll ever meet him, let alone know him intimately enough to be able to serve him.

amazingly enough you forget that it wasn't a lib's idea to clump DHS and FEMA into one useless institution immobilized by bureaucracy. That seems to be against rep's idea about small gov't, but then again so does your presidents speanding habit too. Maybe you should tell republicans to stop spending and raising the deficit cieling for that matter. Don't blame progression for the rights stupidity.

How about the fact that all the other states have been able to get together, all but Louisana. Liberals do not care about the poor or they would listen to how welfare destroys the human spirit. It boggles my mind how Nagin was reelected. He is the most incompetent public official I have ever seen. Gov. Blanco is another hack. Or how about Sen Landreau? Since David Vitter is the first Republican Senator from LA in a long time, why not get the second.

Katrina is the second biggest failure of Bush, the first was 9-11,,,, terrorists will never be able to prevent the hurricanes, the floods, the fires,, the tornadoes,,, neither will our government,,, wars over who god gave the land to, the Christians, the Jews or the Muslims,, will go on,, and so will the weather conditions,,,, the USA is as susceptible to tragedy as Darfur,, we have seen the carnage on our own shores,,, without humanity,,, what is America.
Now Bush fails in Iraq,, the three strike rule,,, he's out.
