5 months is way too early for a shower. They happen just before baby is due. At 5 months you may or may not know what you are having and therefore have probably not had time to register.
With my daughter I had several showers that, because of how many I had, started when I was about 7 1/2 months. Good thing too, as she was born at 37 wks. With son #1 I went into labor on the day of my shower! I was 36 wks pregnant. The shower was then held when he was about 2 months old. With son #2 my shower was held when I was about 7 1/2 months, because I have a history of early babies. This one could have waited until later as he was born at 39 wks. : )

I have never heard of people having a baby shower that early. Most people have a shower at least a month before the baby is due. My son is due on Nov 7 and I my shower is Oct 8

I'll be about 6 1/2 months pregnant when my shower happens, in about 10days!!! Don't plan a baby shower around whether or not the baby is viable outside the womb or whether it's a boy or girl.....getting things you need BEFORE baby comes is a REALLY good idea. I don't know why people on here are so paranoid and negative sometimes. Have a baby shower when you want, and have fun.....Congrats!!!!!!

Most showers I have attended, the mothers were between 7-8 months pregnant. But I really do love the idea of having the shower AFTER having the baby. But my family/friends do not do it that way (so the baby's room can be set up beforehand)

I didn't have a baby shower, but I think you can have on between 7 and 9 months. I don't see way it matters either way.
