I breastfeed my daughter exclusively - no bottles or supplements and my period started 3 weeks postpartum. I've had another one since then so I know it wasn't a fluke. Has anyone else had this happen? It affects my milk supply and I take calcium magnesium supplements to keep it up.

No. I breastfed exclusively for about 8 months. I didn't receive my period for a while. You should see a doctor if you already haven't. Everyone's body is different..

The same thing happened to me when I had my daughter 3.5 yrs ago. The doctor said it was fairly unique (not completely), but it meant that I could get pregnant. She laughed and said I must be really fertile. I'd have to agree since I got pregnant with my daughter the first month I tried.

I started supplementing my daughter with formula at 3 weeks. She gave up the breast on her own accord at 6 months.

It appended to me as well. I thought it was a problem because I had a c-section but my doctor said It normal for some women. It did affect my milk supply also, now my baby is 2.1\2 and unfortunately i have to supplement with formula. Good luck.

when i had my son i breast fed for a while then i got my period 1 week after my 6 weeks of the other bleeding, ( cant remember the actual name )
then that was it, i got pregnant again straight after that now i am 8 months pregnant with my second baby. i had to stop breast feeding after that because i wasn't getting any milk in, but maybe that was because i was pregnant not sure.

That is more than likely still the lochia. Mine came and went for over six weeks after I had the baby. She is 13 months now and I still haven't had a real period.

That happened to a close friend of mine after both pregnancies. Genetics weighs in pretty heavily there.
