I bought two new pairs of pants, which of course being that I am 5'3, need to be hemmed. Now should I wash and dry them before bringing them to be shortened? For shrinking reasons of course. I wouldn't wanna get them shortened, wear them, have them be good, then wash and dry them, put them on, and have a new pair of capris! lol... make sense?

First off, NEW pants don't mean worn stinky pants for a later comment recieved. Not sure where you're shopping if it does! ;)

If they have cotton in them and are not washed already to avoid shrinkage , yes, you should.
But for synthetic fibers no need.

Yes you should because some fabrics shrink during the washing process. you will get a better hem if they are washed first. If you wait until after to wash them they could be shorter than you would like be sure to bring shoes that you will be wearing along with you for a better fit all around

Yes! No one wants to fix stinky pants. Plus you don't want them to shrink after being hemmed.

Yeah, wash and dry them. But before you take them in, do a little dirty sanchez on the back just for fun.

yes definitely launder and dry your pants because like you said they could shrink and you could end up with Capri's, this actually happened to me once.
