Going to Disney for a few days, I didn't see the military discount section online. Does anyone know if they're offering a military discount? How about the lines getting in, should I try to buy my tickets there, or are the line as outrageous as I think they are?

Enjoy your stay- lines to get in- none! they go quick as most will have thier tickets in advance.

For Military discounts most buy tickets through a local PX. Look one up and drop in the discounts are pretty good but I'm not sure what you'd need at the gate to get them although I am sure they can do it.

Here is another tip- get the maps AHEAD of time- decide where you must go and do and then plan a route. For autographs skip the lines for out on the street and head to Mickey's Judge Tent. Back of Magic Kingdom just past the tea cup ride and then follow the signs toward the Goofy Barnstormer it's just another 30-50 feet past that on your left. Go inside the gift shop to meet about a dozen characters and get photos and signatures Mickey is only in Mickey's tent where you'll find more disney friends to meet and greet.

Get a photo card as soon as you get in the door- they use this to track all photos they take of your family and at the end you go back to that same giftshop to decide what you want or buy them all with print rights for about 100 bucks! They even throw in borders and extras for printing it's very nice.

I highly recommend doing a multi pass where you can park hop and going for 2-3 days. You wont get as exhuasted. For hotels Disney has some inexpensive ones but stay away from the Holiday in Tiki Bird- totally hideous tiny rooms and sheets didn't even fit the bed! You had to get in the Tub to close the bathroom door! Second trip we booked early and paid 30 bucks more for the Royal Inn a Disney hotel just reopened. Fabulous room great location! Worth the extra cost.

Yes, they do offer military discounts! I was looking at this website this afternoon and noticed the military discounts in the ticket pricing section.

http://allearsnet.com/pl/ticketchart.htm#MYW9

Scroll down past the first chart, the prices for Florida residents. The following charts have the prices for all the different tickets, and the military prices. There's prices for single-day base tickets, multi-day park hopper tickets, etc., whatever you need.

As for the lines getting in, it depends. It's probably a lot easier to just order them online, if you can. That's what I always do, and I order them with Disney because I always stay at a Walt Disney World Resort. I went in August and the lines for tickets were pretty long, especially when the Parks first open. And the Year of a Million Dreams Celebration is beginning October 1st, so there's going to be a lot of families and tourists. There's going to be even more new rides and shows!

Have fun!

They had a military discount a few years ago when I lived there (i.e. 1999/2000) but I don't know if they still do. As for the lines, if you get there early enough in the morning, the wait shouldn't be quite so long to buy tickets but check at the front desk of your hotel to see if they sell the tickets or can recommend a place to avoid those line ups altogether. Have a good trip.

Okay, here are my suggestions.

Check at your base PX but before you purchase anything go on the www and search and find WDW homepage and become a memeber it is free.

Next go to the section that has the 1-800 # for vacation assistance and call and talk to a travel planning consultant. You'll find them freindly and helpful and can answer question like yours for discounts.

Staying in Disney is much more affordable if you stay at the ecconomy or middle of the line resorts. Transportation is free inside WDW and to all the parks. With the limited time you have why spend $$ on a resort your probably gonna spend little actual time in.

My last suggestion is to enquire into the back lot tours. No, it is not cheap but you'll not waist time bouncing all around and it really is something to see.

Have fun, and good luck!

There is a resort specifically for the military..there is a discount for military.. Your best bet is to contact Disney directly by phone to make arrangements. The lines are not as bad in the fall as they are at spring break or summertime.

Yes, they are listed in the ticket pricing section of www.disneyworld.com. I believe a gal above listed the link for you. I recommend purchasing your tickets online. You can also book your hotel stay at the same time if you choose to stay at a Disney Resort.
This time of year, kids are back in school, so the lines and overall crowds should be very low! This is a great time to visit Disneyworld! However, still avoid weekends if at all possible. That is typically when the locals bring their kids to the parks to play. Mondays and Tuesdays tend to be the slower park days, but any weekday should be fine.

it was recently advertised that Disney as are universal and several other major amusement parks are allowing ACTIVE military personnel in for free and half price to their immediate family (up to 6 ,i believe) all of them have direct access websites from Disney.com, universal.com, 6 flags.com. check for them asnd go during the off peak season (which is now thru Thanksgiving as kids are back in school). the florida parks also offer something new this year which is the hurricane guarantee - if the park has to close during your visit you will get the dyas at a later date for no extra charge. almost all these parks will show you that they give various discounts for AAA, AARP, stc. so go to their websites. by purchasing in advance you can get VIP privileges such as earlier entry than the general public, priority seating and rides reservations
lastly, consider getting a package that includes all of the above, discount tickets, ride privileges, early entry and most importantly a place to rest after the long day by going to a hotel (all prices from modest to luxury) on the property rather than having to drive to one when you and the kids are tired. buying everything seperately may sound cheaper, but pre-purchased packages from the websites or a trusted travel agency will save you more in the long run(p.s. we no longer get commission on these so its the TRUTH).

I have not heard of a military discount. There are many admission plans. The cheapest is for people staying at the resorts for a few days, the most expensive is paying for one park at a time. the best plans are the unlimited parks for a specific number of days.
