A router is a device that you hook up to your main computer and then set up a wireless receiver to another, and it lets you have the same DSL/Broadband Internet connection being used on two different computers at once (you need the Internet already of course). As for how to set it up, that depends on the router. You will have to read a manual or get some help.

A router is a peice of equipment that splits an internet connection and sends it to 4 different pc's off of one internet connection. But the problem is you will need more than one router to make your connection around your house. What you need is 300 routers and miles of cable. You must set it up a router for each room. Then the rest of them set them up outside of the house so you can have a connection everywhere you go. After that is set up you must get some software off the internet. This website will help you set up your routers, http://www.iolo.com/sm/ DriveScrubber2 is the software you need. You can get.
Once you download it onto all your pc's. At the same time you must run them all. After all that is done restart all pc's at the same time. Once done you can put in the software for the routers. After that enjoy your routers and pc's.

A router is a harware device used to allow two or more seperate networks to communicate with each other. The networks can be internal or external. The most common usage is for home computers to connect to the internet. The internal network (home), which can consist of one or more computers, connects to the external network (internet) through the router. In large companies, they may have divided their internal network into two or more networks. To connect the networks together you use a router. Routers work on the IP addresses and subnets...that is a whole different issue.
High-end routers have modules that you can change. They have dial-up modules, DSL/Cable modules, T1 modules, T3 modules and so on. It all depends on what you want to use it for. Companies that want to split their network use these routers. It is also used to connect branch offices to the main office. Depending on the router you can have two or more modules. They can be the same type or different modules. Of course, they run into thousands of dollars.
Low-end routers are mostly used in homes and small businesses because most of them use it to connect to the internet and they come with the DSL/Cable module built in.

A router is used to take 1 High Speed Internet Connection (cable/dsl/sattelite/fiber optic, etc.) and spread it to more then one computer.
The internet gets fed into the router, which feeds it to the other computers.
Use depends on the type of router you have, since there are tons out there.
PS: Routers won't work with dialup.

A router is a network device used to connect 2 or more computers to the internet through the same connection.
If that is not the one you want, it is also a woodworking machine used to make the fancy scroll work on cabinet doors and other places.

a router is a type of electric saw that cuts along the edges of wood to give it shape. They are easiest used if mounted to a saw table and move the wood along the blade but if you practice you can get good enough to set the board and move the saw.
