my skin is REALLY oily and shiny. and I have a massive amount of zits on my forehead and the side of my nose. I use nuetrogena oily-free face wash, but it only makes my skin less oily for a few hours, and takes at least two months to show zit results. I need a better face wash, any ideas?

Most doctors would suggest that you go on tetracycline. Although these are antibiotics, they have a predictable side effect of drying skin. So much so that people are warned to stay out of direct sunlight while taking them. And they are a long-used treatment for acne.

Well I had problems like yours, and I went to a dermatologist. If your skin is really oily, then it most probably comes from the inside. The doctor suggested I take this medicene called Rocutane once a day. I've been taking it for 2 weeks now, and seriously I could go the whole day with no oil on my face. But if you want to look for a face wash only, then I suggest you use Proactiv. My skin still was kinda oily, but at least my zits cleared up. But as far as I remember, it took quite long. Oh yah! don't use moisturizers.

I have REALLY oily skin too and to be totally honest one of the only things i've found that works so far is Proactive. It's kind of expensive so if you can't afford it it's understandable but since i've been using it my face has cleared up ALOT! My problem is i pick at my face though :-/ Other than that Proactive really does work for me, it's hard to say because people vary so much though. Another thing i can say works alright is oil cloths to dab on your forhead and T-zone area every few hours or so when your face gets oily to keep it off. Other than that all i can say is to drink a stead amount of water a day to keep yourself balanced internally(it helps ALOT) and not to wash your face a whole lot during the day. If you do it can cause your face to feel "stripped" of oils and feel like it needs to produce more. I hope something there helps. I know how it is to deal with acne.

Personally, I think Mary Kay is the best way. I also have very oily skin. I am now acne free and am able to wear make up that looks smooth and feels like I have nothing on at all. They have an awesome face wash for acne and it isn't too expensive. Go to marykay.com and check them out. You can also contact a consultant near you and sample the products available. Good luck!

The dr. will give you some insanely expensive CHEMICALS. You need to be on a good skin care system. Try the #1 in the US for the past 13 years, Mary Kay.Go to marykay.com to find a consultant in your area who will take the time to find out just what YOU need. Trust me, I battled oiliness and zits and tried many skin care routines. MK is the only one that has ever helped!
