My Swordtail had her babies She was spinning around the tank like crazy early this morning. I figured she was having them. I went out for a little bit and when I came home there were fry There are three that I can see at the moment. Please look at the following link and look at Swordtail tank. Thats what the fry and mom are in. Also I have an under gravel filter and a whisper filter at the top. Should both be ok to run or should I turn the wisper off? I don't want the babies to get sucked in to anything. Any advice would be great.

Wrap a bit of nylon mesh around the filter intake to keep fry from being sucked in.

I couldn't see your tank but my guppy fry have been sucked up into my bio-wheel. You can cover part of your intake with an old fish net. Check your filter often I was able to save some of my fry that got caught!

I wouldnt worry about turning them off. Just get a mesh and put it over the intake on the whisper. If you cant find one or dont have money, then take a pair of pany hose cut a lil section and rubberband it over the intake... Make sure you have lots of plants for them to hide. Because mom will munch on a few if she can.

I would turn the whisper filter off because they will get sucked up.

I wouldn't think about turning it off, but you may try an internal mesh divider to block that possiblility.
