I need to konw for a biology question, my teacher asked is it living or nonliving, please I need some help with it. its like the kind that you can get in grocery stores in a big bag. I think it is nonliving...is it?

According to Merriam-Webster's online dictionary, life is "an organismic state characterized by capacity for metabolism, growth, reaction to stimuli, and reproduction." The important part of this statement is that it says "by capicity for..." Beans do have the capacity for all these activities of life. In this sense, beans are indeed living. Beans are just seeds, and seeds have the ability to be dehydrated then rehydrated to begin their metabolic activities. Plants fit all these qualities of life as defined by Merriam-Webster.
