Whenever I scratch my head or the people I know scratch their heads, it tends to itch even more. To actually make the itching stop, you have to stop scratching your head. How come?

You are stimulating the nerve endings like when someone scratches your back it will start to itch more....feel it now?

That's the way of the scratch..."the more you scratch, the more you itch". Not just your head..anywhere you scratch. When the scratch area is stimulated, the soothing, gratifying feeling you feel, invites you to continue.

even just reading this i itched my head..lol... i dont' know why we do it.. .i know that any time someone mentions head lice i scratch my head for some reason... i guess it's just instinct

becuase when you scrach your head your hair is moved out of the way and it falls back into place so it might iriate or it could just be in the mind
