I´m very lucky. I own a business so i travel to Sapporo every other month, for the last 3 years. Japan´s best asset= It´s people. Truly like working beside them. You must go to Japan if you want learn from another breed. Places to go: Tokyo, Moboribetsu, Okinawa, Hiroshima, Naganno, Hiroshima. Maybe forgotten about 10 other cities.
Good luck and best wishes...

Yes, I love Japan.
You sound like me 15 years ago. Short story, I travelled to Japan as a student and loved it. 5 years later, got a career opportunity job with a big international company. Had more chances to experience more of Japan during several business trips. 3 years ago, still with the same company, they transferred me and my family to Japan. I have now come to the following opinion. Japan is safe. Not just in terms of crime but in terms of decisions and attutudes. In the working world and in society, the Japanese take the safe road. Which is not always the best in today's fast paced world. Life in Japan, especially Tokyo is great. Lots of things to do for everyone. The short time I had to stay out in the countryside, sucked really bad. Not a darn thing to do. The downside of Japan and most expats agree is that everything is either small or crowded. That is easy to deal with for a while. Don't get me wrong, I would not trade the experience for any amount of money. And the experience is not over yet.

I've spent about 2 months there during three separate visits to Hitachi (in Mito Prefecture) and Nagoya that were job-related.
I like it there, and would not hesitate to go back, but don't love it. On the plus side - people there are very courteous, there is a LOT of technology that we in the US don't have yet, the food is very good, it's clean, and it's easy to get around via public transport. On the minus side - it's difficult to discern what people there really and truly think about anything, it's extremely expensive, and it is very crowded.

I love Japan. I can't wait to go back there and spend a lot of time in Tokyo. It's my favorite country out of all the other ones I've seen.

I would love to visit Japan some day, and maybe I will. My daughter loves Japan and plans to live there some day. The reason she loves it and wants to move there is because she wants to be an Anime artist.

I lived and worked in Japan for two years, and I travel back for two weeks each year.
I married a Japanese woman, my kids are Japanese nationals, and I look forward to my yearly trips.
So, yes I do love Japan.
