We are both atheists. Moving in together is a serious commitment for us - I am moving to another country (although my home country) in order to live with him.

communication. communication. communication. respect for each other's time, feelings, dreams, etc. never say "never" or "always"...as in ..."You ALWAYS..." or "You NEVER..."...think before you speak. think of better ways to say things to each other. Laugh every day. Kiss everytime you leave or get home. have dates even though you live together. get out of the house and have a real romantic date. pitch in and help around the house-both of you. never go to bed angry. don't keep secrets. ask for what you want. no one's a mind reader. be happy.

I had a doomed relationship when I lived with my ex boyfriend. These are some things I think would have helped us:
Give each other some space & privacy.
Give each other freedom; sometimes one person tries to be controlling or to “parent” the other person. You can have a life together & still spend some time apart.
Don’t smother each other.
Respect each others boundaries.
If one person is neat freak, don’t be a total slob and vice versa.
Share responsibilities equally. My biggest mistake was playing housewife, at first I enjoyed cooking & cleaning and taking care of him, but then it became expected of me and I wasn’t being appreciated.
Do not put all the bills in your name, in case things to take a turn for the worst you do not want to be responsible for everything if you can’t really afford it (Big Mistake on my part).

I think the best secret of making love last is: Never lose respect for one another.

There is no secret to making love last. Let’s just clear that myth up.
Not to burst your bubble but have you looked at the divorce rate lately?

Now if your question is rephrased to: “What is the secret to living happily?” Then okay.

The secret to living happily is: 1) open communication, 2) honesty and 3) understanding and what I mean by understanding is when you first move in the other person’s habits can be REALLY annoying. Understand that you are two different people and that it is going to take a while to get used to each other while living in such close quarters. Most people have two different outlooks on money, paying the bills, chores, sex….etc., and so it is very important to be understanding and learn the concept of compromise.

Making a lifelong committment helps. Otherwise, you're just "living together," which is not a committment at all.
Okay, lecture over.
Respect one another.
Accept each other's little faults and live with them patiently (the ol' cap off the toothpaste and toilet seat up issues).
Communicate, communicate, communicate!
Count to 10 when you get mad, before you say anything; and don't do it so that it's obvious what you're doing.
Give each other some space, like a night out a week with the boys/girls. Lots of marriages survive that way!

You should not be living together...if there is no way around this before the wedding date....at least stop having sex...and yes in
touching body parts below the belly button that is all part of sex!
Bill Clinton did have sex with that woman...oral is still sex! You
however need to know how to make love last...give up the sex until you are married...get to know each other better in other areas...do you agree on rearing children? do you agree about Jesus? ...do you agree on how to stay out of debt? ...do you like the same things...can you spend time together doing nothing, and enjoy each other without sex? The secret of making love last is first to be a Christian...and you are not behaving as Christians if you are having sex before marriage....So just stop doing it! There is a writer...Joshuah Harris...his books will help you out!

The only way to make love last when your living together is not being with each other every second of the day. Try to at least spend dinner together that way you two can catch up on the day.

The secret? There's no secret sweetie.

You need commitment, which you obviously do not have otherwise you would be getting married.

Rent and watch "Rumor has it"

Pay special attention to her CHOICE she makes at the end of the movie!

The secret of making love last is "Not to move in together"

Right now you are in the honeymoon stage of your relationship.Baby things will change. It is natural for these feelings of infatuation to pass.Once they do pass, don't think you are falling out of love. The love will still be there.Maybe not as intense, but more lasting. Any relationship requires constant work,as does your car, house etc.Dr.Phil's Relationship Rescue is a good book to lead you down the right path.
