Well, it depends on what kind of dance.
FORMAL or CASUAL.
FORMAL- I would google something along the lines of Formal Dresses. Or maybe cocktail dresses. Some small heels and a necklace, earrings and an updo would be nice. Wear something that brings out your eyes. Or if you have redish hair then wear a soft pink or a limegreen.
CASUAL-Wear some jeans some ballet flats or heels && a glittery top. You can find some really cute tops at Macy's. Straighten your hair && wear it down. Or put it up with side swept bangs.
Make up--
CASUAL- foundation, eyeliner, mascara, natural eyeshadow, some blush, and lip gloss.
That should do it.
FORMAL- Do the same with casual except for maybe a different color of eyeshadow such as a glittery one to match your top. Keep it SIMPLE.
DO NOT USE FOUNDATION WITHOUT MOM'S PERMISSION. ALSO MAKE SURE THE DAY BEFORE THE DANCE TO DO A DRESS && MAKEUP REHEARSAL. THAT WAY YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE DOING. MAKE SURE MOM HELPS WITH THE MAKE UP AS WELL. YOU WANT TO LOOK VERY LIGHT NOT LIKE A CLOWN.

Wear a pretty dress that lets you move. A soft flowered rayon with short sleeves and a scooped neck is graceful and becoming. Short, but not too short is good. A pair of comfortable but dressy shoes, like ballet flats, will work well with it. This might be a good occasion to try out a hairdresser to get your long curly hair, a great asset, specially styled. You might want to try an up-do that gets your hair up off your ears along with a pair of big dangly earrings. They have some fabulous big spiral earrings at Urban Outfitter, which sells online and has great stuff for teens.

Lucky you with long curly hair! Look for a hairstyle in a magazine that might look cute on you and try it before the dance. Not too much makeup since you are 13..maybe a little eye shadow, mascara & lipgloss. Maybe you have a friend who is good with hair and/or makeup? Have fun!

Well if it's a casual dance wear jeans and a cute halter or screened tee. If it's a bit more formal, wear a cute skirt, but downplay it by wearing a tanktop and sneakers. IF it's really formal, buy a cute blue or pink dress. Just be comfotable with what your wearing so she don't feel all stiff and unenthusiatic. For hair wear it up if you are planning to dance a lot. Make-up, just a little bit of lipgloss and light eyeshadow.
GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

the first person is totally right
wear shoes that are cute but totally comfortable
hm.. i think you should wear like a cute halter top & a skirt
oh & if u dance too much, you get hot & disgusting
so if u didnt like my suggestion, you can simply wear something thats cool & not something your going to suffer in
for makeup, you shouldnt do anything so dramatic cause no one's really going to see it in the dark
so just put on some eye shadow, a little bit of blush, & lipgloss
& for your hairstyle... do whatever you want

whatever you do, make sure that your parents DON'T pick out the outfit. I remember when I went to my first dance. I was in the 8th grade too. My dad took me shopping for the oufit. I ended up with a blue dress with ity bity polka dots and a white vest. ... AND black pennyloafers. I hated my outfit, and I didn't want to go anymore. Well my parents made me go anyway cause they spent SOOOO MUCH money at KMART for my clothes. None asked me to dance. I looked like a dork.

I'd wear something cute, but comfortable. You'll probley be on your feet dancing, so don't wear a long dress. I wore a pair of jeans and a cute sweater to my dance. ( it was freezing outside!)
Have fun!
