It's a hoax. People who appear to be "hypnotized" at a stage show or party are willingly complying with instructions from the "hypnotist." They're not "hypnotized," they're just going along with the show.
To ensure subjects respond to his instructions, the "hypnotist" screens out people. He'll start with a large number of volunteers on stage and then whittle his way down to a manageable number of individuals who claim they have been "hypnotized." That's when the fun starts.......
The only ones who claim not to remember are the ones who want plausible deniability for whatever embarrassing thing they did on stage.

Went to a comedy club... some people on stage could not be hypnotized and were sent back to their seats. The others did what he said and entertained us. It seemed like they just went along with him for the fun of it.

i went to a hypnosis seminar that the guy claimed he could hypnose you to loose weight or to stop smoking! not sure if he actually hypnosed me or not havent lost but about 5 pounds in the 6 months since he claimed to have hyponised me and didnt "feel" like anything happened while he was supposedly hypnostising me! although he was hypontising several people at one time might should have tried someone who done one person at a time!

I was in a show at Knott's Berry Farm long time ago, and the thing I remember the most was when he told us we had ants crawling up our arms. Deathly afraid of insects at the time, and I could honestly feel it... then he said the girls wouldn't be able to get up out of our chairs, and I couldn't. It was amazing...
