It's the most ridiculous thing I've heard, but I hear and read that comment A LOT. Just because we want our skin a little darker, doesn't mean we want to be black. Do black people who die their hair blond want to be white? I doubt it.

I have noticed this also. Tan white skin is nowhere near the color of black skin. Everyone wants a "golden tan" in the summer time while no one ever says they want a "black tan". Furthermore a tan is a naturally biological reaction to the sun's rays (natural). Just to make a point: There are millions of black women who use bleach creams (an epidemic in Africa and the Caribbean) a totally unnatural process using chemicals and has horrible side effects (check Michael Jackson, Latoya Jackson and Lil' Kim YUCK!). As far as white people getting lip injections and butt implants (never heard of that), people that get these surgeries represent an extreme minority. What about the extreme majority of black women who straighten their hair--now that says something.

I don't think whites want to be black. I think white people just recognize the beauty of darker skin.
And I don't understand the blonde thing, but most white people aren't blonde either.

I don't even understand why this is a question...now granted, you are entitled to ask about this issue...
Ask yourself "Why do I get a tan?" If it's not b/c you want to look "black", then don't worry about it. Why do white people say "black people who dye their hair want to be white?" - now I know you just put that in there as an example, but I'm sure you brought it up to your friends before. "Black" people say things like this about other races and white people say things about other races and so on and so forth....
Aren't there other things/issues to be concerned about....continue on with getting tan's and stop worrying about what other people think.

It does go both ways, but it all comes down to racism and the historical relationship between whites and Blacks.....Blacks who do dye their hair blond are accused of tryin to be white....

If you're not trying to be black then who are you trying to be, certainly not yourself. I've never understood why white people tan anyway. Everyone knows it causes skin cancer and when you get older the results of tanning are going to cause your skin to get little blacks spots all over it. Tanning isn't healthy and what's so bad about being pale?

Why are people so ignorant? No one is trying to be like the other!
We are who we are and if God wanted to change us different, he would of did it before we came into the world. I can't take no more of this! I can't believe you people! You acting like you belong in a zoo or somewhere where there is no civilization! If you can't get along with other races you should disqualify yourself from this. This isn't the place and your wasting my time.

Maybe because even if they dont admit it, all black people want to be white. So they just say that because theyre jealous. What happens if we lay by the pool for a while? We get nice and brown and look good. What happens if they lay by the pool for a while? They get blacker and look...not as good.
