Ovulation will start 14 days after the first day of your last period (if you are 28 day cycle). It is best to have sex the day before ovulation. Sperm live in the body for up to 72 hours. It takes time for the sperm to travel to the egg. If you have sex the day before ovulation then the sperm are there and waiting. Once you have sex do not get up. Stay laying on your back for at least 45 minutes. Try to fall asleep if you can. Do not put on your clothes yet and do not wipe off yet. (I know its gross but it works). Do not have sex every day. Try every other day. This will build the mans sperm count back up.

I had sex the day before my ovulation and now we have a 6 month old. First try. (I did not have sex on my ovulation date)

Good luck to you.

you start counting from the first day of your period and on the 15th day you start to ovulate, and then for 7 to 10 days in between those days you are fertile because a sperm can live for 72 hours before it becomes non vertile enough to vertilize an egg.It is called the rhythem system. You should get an oral thermometer and start taking your temperature every morning BEFORE YOU GET OUT OF BED, that is very important, make your self a graf or start writing it down what it is, at that time ,(everyone is different) it should be around 96.7 to 97.something but it will be below normal. Then the morning it starts to drop even a degree or two, that is the time you are starting to ovulate, from then on after the small decline it will start to rise, possibly to 98 or close to normal (around the 4th or 5th day, that is the most likely time you can get pregnant, because you are fertile as long as the temp is up then it will take a small drop back to where it started and then is when you are possible fertile because the sperm that was in there can live for another 72 hours.,but most un- likely, my husband used that system for 6 years. The temperature is very important in telling you when U R fertile. After you make love do not use a solution to wash it out and put a pillow under your legs and leave it there for about a half an hour, get high enough so your bottom is up in the air. I don't mean for this to sound x-rated ,I am just telling you how we got our child. We put a calendar up above the bed and I would use safe for 10 days, unsafe for 5 to 7 days, and safe until your next period either starts or doesn't start. Or you could say ok for ten days, not ok for 10 days , then safe for another ten days. But you start counting the first day of your memsis.I couldn't take birth control pills and a diaphram was in my dresser drawer when I got my last surprize, so this is the only way I could be reasonably safe if i didn't want another baby. Good luck and God Bless!!!!!!

The longest an egg can live is 48 hours, but sperm can live inside you for up to 72 hours so make sure you are extra careful anywhere from 4-5 days BEFORE you ovulate. After ovulation, just be cautious the next 48 hours and then your fertile time won't be around again until 11 - 16 days after your period, you start counting the same day you start your period.

You need to know some basic things. Let me help you. Yes I am a guy these instructions were given to my wife and I by a Doctor. Follow my instructions if you and your husband are healthy adults of Child bearing age this plan will work for you

First, you need to understand your monthly cycle.

Write down the date your period starts the first month then the following month write down the date the next period begins. Now count the days that is considered your cycle. Most ladies have a 28 day cycle. The most likely day to conceive is the date at the mid way point between periods. This is when your egg will move down to your womb. For example, If you have a 28 day cycle next month count out 14 days from when your period starts that is the day to conceive for you. Mark it on your calender. Do NOT start counting when your period ends again start counting days when your period begins to the beginning of the next. Some ladies cycle is always different one month it could be 28 days the following month it might be 30 days, but by counting days you can narrow down to the day your egg drops. Continue to track and find that mid point day (from previous month) even it your cycle is alway different. To be sure you get the right day there is one other thing you must do. Pay attention is part is important!

Second, Go to Wal-mart and purchase a digital thermometer they have them for as little as $4.00. Put it next to your bed with piece of paper and a pen. Then when you wake up each and every morning without fail take your temperture BEFORE YOU GO TO THE BATHROOM. ITS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU DO THIS AS SOON AS YOU GET UP AND extremely important that you take your temperture BEFORE YOU GO TO THE BATHROOM. Record your temperture on the piece of paper. Every morning your temperature should near 98.6 degrees. The day you can conceive (your ovulation day) your temperture will spike 1 to 2 degrees higher then all the other recorded temperatures. When that happens wake your husband up and have him do his part. NO oral please!
Warning if you take your temperture after you pee you will get a false reading - peeing will raise your temperture by 1-2 degrees.

Your Ovulation time is usually only 1-2 days each month. That means you only have one to two chances each month to get it done. Repeat these steps each month until you conceive.

Third, the more sex a man has the lower his sperm count is when your are approaching day 14th (or whatever your ovulation day is) do not have sex make your husband wait until your temperture spikes. It will raise his sperm count through the ceiling. The higher the sperm count the better the chance of conception. When you are trying to conceive the worst thing you can do is have sex every day. Daily sex will lower your husband's sperm count and conception is more difficult. Every other day or every third day is ok!

Fourth, Ask God to help you to increase your faith please read First Samuel chapter 1 (its in the Old Testament) The story is about this lady who could not conceive but she had faith in God She prayed for a child and God anwsered her prayer. Please read it.

Fifth, Sometimes conception takes time if it does not happen as soon as you like just keep trying until it does. Keep in mind trying can be ALOT of fun

Be blessed!

The best way to go is by measuring basal body temperature. Around mid-month, a woman's temperature goes up slightly, and that's prime time to get pregnant.
