Bosnia is in the former Yugoslavia. North of Greece ,south east of Austria and south of Hungary , nowhere near Russia

Added- The former Yugoslavia was north of Greece and if somebody doesnt know where Bosnia is they are not going to know where Serbia or Montenegro are. Whilst after WW2 it was regarded as sort of Eastern Bloc, Tito held it in a unique situation whereby he wasn't controlled by the USSR and held all the opposing factions in solidarity.
But by no means is it in Eastern Europe... it's not that far from Venice!!

Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is the correct name in English, is a former Yugoslav republic, along with Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro, and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (also called Macedonia, but it has the longer name to keep it from being confused with a region of neighboring Greece that shares the name, a fact many Macedonian Greeks are sensitive about). It is bordered by Croatia and Serbia. It IS in Eastern Europe, it is NOT anywhere near Russia, and it isn't that close to Greece... but closer than it is to Russia, at any rate. Sarajevo is the capital, as someone else correctly stated earlier. Many people think Kosovo is also a Yugoslav country, but it is currently still an autonomous region of Serbia and Montenegro. There is a possibility that Kosovo could become an independent country in the future, the fate of which is currently being mulled in the United Nations.
