A frog falls in a hole 20ft.deep. Every day he jumps up 1 ft. and slides back 1/2 ft.

Basically he is travelling 1/2 ft every day so it wouuld take 40 days.

For the first 38 days, he effectively makes 1/2 foot a day, getting him to the 19 foot mark. On day 39, he makes it to the 20 foot mark. If that is all the frog needs, he is done. If 20 feet is still considered in the hole, he slides back to the 19-1/2 foot mark and hops to 20-1/2 feet on day 40. Greater than vs. greater than or equal to is a subtle, but sometimes critical distinction.
