I live near NYC and would like to plant Lilly of the Valley to bloom for next spring. Can anyone tell me a good place to purchase bulbs, the best time to plant, and care for the bulbs once they've been planted?
Thank you!

I got my starts off of eBay. They like to have shade and moist, organic rich soil. I w2ould imagine the best time to plant would be late spring or early fall. If you got some soon, I would put them in the ground. They are really hardy. Shouldn't be a problem for you.

They are very hardy and resilient. Plant in a well shaded location. The north, or east side of a house is best. Once established, they will bloom for many years in May. Most landscape nurseries should carry them.

The lawn and garden center where I work has always gotten them in in the spring with the glads, ferns, dahlias, and such. They're very easy to grow as long as they aren't in too much sun. I'd call area garden centers and ask if the get them in the spring or fall. My guess is most will be in the spring. Plant them in late March or early April and you'll be set for years of beauty.
