I gave him a carrot, tons of pellets, and clean water. But all he's doing is hiding in his hut. He's a little less than a month old. I'm worried thats he sick or depressed.

Don't worry too much after just one day. It can take time to adjust to anything new. Besides most rodents are mostly nocturnal he may not want to eat until later. Although they are not categorized as nocturnal they get that rep because they like the quiet and the lack of chaos around the house. If you put him in a quiet place during the day you may see more movement. Also although they are social creatures and they do like attention, when it comes to eating, they like to wait until it's dark and quiet. Just check to see if any of it is gone in the morning. And give him some time to get used to his new home as well, as humans when we get nervous we tend to loose our appetite right? Can be the same for them. Just don't give them green foods like lettuce and stuff like that. Despite what anyone might tell you, I raised rabbits for 5 yrs in 4-H and ginuea pigs, the two aren't much different, green foods are not good for their intestines and can give them severe diarrhea that can actually kill them. Alfalfa is good, it helps keep their digestive track moving smoothly. They also love bananas and apple slices. Give him a day or two before you get to worried. Good luck!

He's probably afraid, considering you just got him. he has a hut? Cool!!! I would give him a few days to get used to his surroundings, and talk gently to him when you are near him, and don't move too fast around him, they can be sort of 'jumpy' around fast movements. After he gets used to you, he will be pretty happy to see you and will come out to see you. Well, mine did, anyway. LOL!! Also, when they are really happy the will sort of squeak or whistle at you. This really freaked me ouit at first, but this means they are happy. Of course, if he doesn't adjust or doesn't eat or drink in a couple of days, I would try and tlak to a vet. I love guinea pigs. IS he a long hair or short hair? LOL! :)

lol guinea pigs are NOT nocturnal. If you just got him let him be. he is terrified of you (all small pets are when they first come home.) Dont bother him for a week or two. Just give him food. If he doesnt touch it at all take him to the vet. He may need his teeth trimmed.

Remember guinea pigs need food high in vitamin C and lots of hay. Like all rodents they need chew toys.

He is just stressed. He is just a little guy and traveling, a new enviroment, and people can be stressful. Just let him be for 24 hours to get use to the place. Offer him treats so he gets use to you. In time he will love you and will be your best friend.

Guinea pigs are nocturnal. That means they sleep during the day. By morning you will see a dent in the food.

no that normal for them to just chill just make sure that you have a lil something for him to nibble on due to the fact that their teeth grow very fast ie a paper towel roll or card board free of stickers and printed ink but yes in real normal

He's probably scared of his new setting. He should also have plenty of alfalfa hay. He'll come around. It just takes time. Check out this site

They love spinach. Try that or lettuce. Along with the pellets.
He'll come around. He's just young. Handle him often.
